Your POV

The sleek Altean space shuttle you rode whizzed across the planet at a leisurely speed. You would have taken the Black Lion, it's controls being more familiar, and that it was one of Shiro's belongs—which happened to be missing. Ever since he had disappeared you have been searching for him on this planet. You used to doubt that he was able to leave, but after looking around for months after months without success you thought he had found a way to leave.

Anyway, you were flying the ship over the grassy plains of the Earth-like planet because the Black Lion was recharging after an intense battle with the Galra. Recharging: something you should be doing as well. You almost forgot what it was like to get a good nights sleep, it being so long since you had the decency to do so. Ever since he had left you haven't wanted to face your empty shared bed, to remember the nights that you spent together, to smell his scent left on the pillows. It was really taking its toll on you, and if you were in the Black Lion—which could fly itself without assistance—you wouldn't have crash landed on the planets surface, as sleep finally was able to grab you and pull you under.

3rd person POV

Shiro hesitantly left the cover of the forest and walked onto the grassy plains to get water. He hated that he lived this way; alone, scared, isolated. But he thought it was for the best—the best for his team—the best for her. He hated himself for hurting her. Every single time he closed his eyes all he could see was the fear inside of her as she looked at him, and even worse, he could even recall the moment that his Galra hand—his hand, the hand he hated so much he tried to cut it off himself—lashed out and sliced her open all while burning the surrounding flesh. All he wanted to do was keep her safe, to protect her from harms way even if it meant sacrificing himself, and to be the one to inflict her pain, obvious in her (e/c) orbs, he couldn't think of any worse punishment.

He made it to the top of the hill when he saw a ship on the planets surface. He immediately crouched down on instinct, as it was an Altean ship and he knew that it could only be his team or (y/n). But the thought of one of his teammates stuck in the rubble eventually outgrew the urge to stay hidden, and he found himself making his way over to the crumpled heap of metal.

He peered through the glass of the pod to see something that made his heart stop. (Y/n), unconscious, a large gash on her forehead causing a cascading waterfall of blood to run down your features. 'Only if she would have worn her helmet,' he thought, remembering her bad habit of not always wearing it.

He hesitated picking her up when he glanced at his robotic ark, bruised and raw where the metal met his skin. But the bleeding for her forehead didn't look like it would stop anytime soon, so carefully he picked her up. He felt something stir up inside of him that he haven't felt in months. Sure, he thought about her every day, about how much he loved her, but now that she laid in his arms he could truly feel how much he has missed her. But he was scared, so scared, scared that he was going to hurt her again.

He gently carried (y/n) back to the cave he was taking shelter in. He never wanted to call it his home, he hated it, and knew that his real home was with her. Yet, after what had happened, he never thought that he would have a home again, thinking that he would loose her forever.

He set her down next to the fire he had made. He was thankful for those survival classes that he had to take in the Garrison. At the time they seemed pointless, but he was glad that they were required.

He ripped a piece if fabric off of his tee-shirt and pressed it up against (y/n)'s forehead in hopes to stop the bleeding. It occurred to him that the small strip wasn't enough, so he grabbed the liner of his suit and ripped the arm off. He could get a new one, he thought, but then he realized that he might not, not if he never returned. But what was he supposed to do with (y/n)? Would he have to face his team when he brought her back?

Anyways, he folded up the sleeve into a bundle and put pressure on her wound. He sat there for what seemed like an eternity. Still, all of that time and he still wasn't able to to prepare himself for the moment that her eyes opened, revealing the (e/c) irises that he loved so dearly.

"Shiro?" She whispered, wondering if this was really him or just one of the many dreams she had if him. "Are you real?"

"Yes, I'm real," he said.

Slowly she raised a hand up to his cheek, cupping the side of his face in her hand. At the feeling of his warm skin and stubble, tears welled up in her eyes, and a sob to her lips.

"I'm here," he reassured her as tears of his own came to his eyes. She sat up and hugged him, forgetting about the pulsing headache she had. Tears finally made their way down Shiro's face. He couldn't hold back any longer, and he hugged her back, holding her tight and close like he would never let go.

"Don't you ever leave me like that again," She warned, but her voice still shook and was filled with raw emotion.

"I won't," he promised, finding the words coming out of his mouth easier than he would have liked them to. "I promise I won't."

He hated himself for what he did to her physically, but he hated himself even for for what he put her through emotionally and mentally, because if she were feeling what he was—which he was certain she did, if not even worse—he knew that he had failed to protect her.

"I'm sorry. I am so sorry," he said.

"Forget about it, for now," she said before pressing her lips to his.

A/n: I hoped you liked it! I'm running low on requests so if you would like to leave one that would mean so much to me :)

See ya next time, my dudes.
