Male!Reader x Annie: Forever

"Annie!!" You grinned when you saw the familliar blonde. She turned around and waved, keeping up a good poker face.

"Hello, (y/n). How are you?" She asked as you hugged her.

"Mom got mad at me again, I just told her about you but she suddenly got mad and left." You frowned, "I don't get why she hates you so much. I mean, you're my best friend for life!"

Annie sighed and played with her hair. You both sat on the floor, and Annie began talking, "It's okay, (y/n). I understand why your mother hates me. You shouldn't probably be hanging out with me."

You shook your head and tackled Annie, you were now on top of her and Annie's eyes widened.

"No! I won't stop hanging out with you, Annie! You're my only friend! Nobody else wants to be my friend! The people at that place are so bossy and mean." You pouted and got off of Annie, you turned away from her and sniffled.

Annie sat up and waited for you to calm down, "I'm sorry..." She mumbled. You turned to her again with tears in your eyes.

"Do you not like being my friend, Annie?" You asked, "I mean, I really am sorry for pretending to be dead..."

"No. I've already forgiven you for that. And I like being your friend, you're the only one who accepted me for who I am. I know how lonely you are in this hospital, (y/n). With having brain tumor and all, I know how scared you are, I'm scared." Annie frowned.

You gave a sad smile and hugged Annie, she lightly clung to your arm as you rocked her back and forth, "I can't help it, Annie. But I'm not lonely since you're here with me, and I won't be afraid if you're with me."

Annie closed her eyes for a moment, "you smell sweet...." She commented.

"You think so? I had strawberry juice this morning!" You chuckled. Annie smiled a small smile and snuggled closer to you, "hey, Annie?"

"hm?"

"Will you stay with me until the end?" You whispered.

"Of course. What are friend's for?"

You held Annie in your arms until she left, your mother had arrived and took care of you. She reprimanded you when she caught you sitting on the floor. Saying it could make your condition worse. You rolled your eyes and got back to bed, where a nurse injected the IV drop to your hand. You slept while dreaming about you and Annie being happy together.

"(y/n)...(y/n), wake up!"

"nnn?" You moaned as you rubbed your eyes, Annie was standing next to you with a stressed expression painted on her face.

"Annie? What's wrong? What time is it?" You asked tiredly. Annie bit her lip and held your hand.

"Today's the day...your surgery's today, (y/n). I-I have to go..." Annie whimpered.

"What?! No! Don't lea- ah!" You cried in agony as a sharp pain appeared in your head. You screamed in pain when it wouldn't disappear. Annie couldn't do anything but give a hurtful expression, as if she was about to cry. Annie stepped away and a doctor barged into your room.

"We need to get you to the operating table soon. Nurses! Come aid me!" The doctor cried. Then, three nurses and your mother entered the room. They began pulling your bed with you on it.

"N-no! A-A...Annie!" You cried. Your mother swatted your hand away.

"(y/n), please! You need this surgery, don't call for your imaginary friend! She's not real!" Your mother hissed.

You reached out for Annie, who was slowly fading away. Your eyes filled with tears and you began screaming. Does this mean...the only friend you had for all this time, was just a figment of your imagination?!

"ANNIE!!!" You screamed as you were taken to the operation room.

Annie allowed a single tear to roll before she completely vanished.

Don't figments of a person's imagination disappear when its host dies?
