**rewritten/edited 08/15/2021 (one of my favs!!)

hey y'all!! so i hope you all enjoy this update, i thought it was something sweet and i hope you all like it!!

the night is young and so are you. neither you nor luke could sleep. the two of you were growing more and more restless by the hour and couldn't get your minds to stop moving. you were dressed in one of his youth hockey t-shirts with shorts and he was in a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. suddenly, luke opens his bedroom door and he grabs your hand. luke tilts his head towards the open door frame.

with your hand interlocked in his, he pulls you downstairs and giggles at you when you almost trip from him pulling you down the stairs.

once your feet hit the floor, you immediately go toward the freezer. you look for both of your favorite ice creams from the freezer drawer.

when you have your head in the freezer looking for certain flavors, luke pulls out his phone and plays your song. the song is '18' by one direction.

you whip your head in his direction once you hear the first few seconds of the song.

"i got a heart, and i got a soul, believe me, i will use them both, we made a start, be it a false one, i know, baby, i don't want to feel alone."

a smile overtakes your face and you shut the freezer and walk over towards him.

you pull him closer with your arms around his neck. he puts his hands on your hips and gives them a small squeeze.

"so kiss me where i lay down,
my hands pressed to your cheeks,
a long way from the playground."

you two sway side to side while letting the music play from luke's phone on the kitchen island. he twirls you around a few times, dips you, then pulls you into his arms once again.

he leans his head down and whispers the next lyrics to you, his eyes locked with yours:

"i have loved you since we were 18, long before we both thought the same thing, to be loved and to be in love."

you and luke are to caught up in each other and the music to hear the creaking of the stairs.

ellen was coming downstairs for a glass of water when she walked in on the 2 (two) of you dancing together. she takes in the sight before her and she can't help but let out and audible 'awe'.

the noise doesn't go unnoticed by the two of you and  you both lifts your heads toward her. the blush on your cheeks in enough to make luke pull you against his chest, as if to defend you from anything bad in the world.

the song is coming to an end when ellen makes her way back upstairs to her bedroom with a glass of water and a smile on her face.

luke pulls you away from his chest and holds you at shoulder length, his hands resting on your cheeks. his thumb rubs over your bottom lip and he once again, directs the song lyrics towards you.

"i wanna love like you made me feel,
when we were 18."
