Chapter 1.1

    Lumine and Aether walked around the corner and saw their new school down the street. Lumine winced, not wanting to deal with the awkwardness of fitting and socializing. It just felt so inconvenient and unnecessary especially since Lumine and Aether both had been through many schools; they were always moving so they never felt the need to fit in. But yet some people do manage to befriend the two and then they face the repeated pattern of heartbreak for distance doesn’t bode well with the friendship and they end up being one of them. He once didn’t speak to her for a whole two weeks because she ate his sandwich.

“Okay fine whatever, what is the school called again, because I low key forgot,” Lumina asked, having realized that she didn’t listen to her mother when she talked about the new school the two were transferred to.

  “It is called Genshin High,” Aether said, then contorting his face to a blank stare. Lumine furrowed her eyebrows and replied,

  “That’s dumb to be honest, what does that even mean?” Aether just shrugged, just as unsure as herself and the two went on inside the building.

 Upon entry, the twins found themselves in the midst of chaos. They entered through the door and were immediately greeted with a loud ca-caw sound. Lumine winced, confused about what made that sound. She soon realized what it was.
 
She looked up and saw a giant raven dive swoop to her. She gasped and ducked, falling to the ground.

“WHAT THE HELL!” Lumine shouted out, shooketh from the giant raven

“Sister dearest doesn’t swear, it is a rather crude look on you" Aether obnoxiously said. Lumine glares at Aether, annoyed at her brother but then she remembers the raven and ducks again, fearing it will attack her again.

“Oh, don’t worry, the raven is gone!” cried a voice. Lumine looked up and saw a girl with brown hair wearing shorts and a red bandana in her hair.

“Don’t worry, Oz is nice, he just gets too excited around strangers. “said the nice girl.

“People say that about dogs, not giant ravens" Aether chirped. The girl laughed, her laugh sounding humble and kind.

“Yeah well, it something you’ll have to get used to here at Genshin High!” The girl exclaimed and then added, “Hi I am Amber, I’ll be your guide here today".

The twins followed Amber as she excitedly chattered, talking about the school in which the twins were half-heartedly listening.

“Genshin High is unique and rather revered for its concept of bringing students from all over Tevyat, though we are still in the process of getting students from ALL of the nations to attend the school,” Amber said. Aether ears perked, curious by the last sentence.

“Um, why is it hard to get students from other nations?” Aether asked. Lumine rolled her eyes annoyed at her brother for lengthening the tour.

“Well, the other nations are rather prickly about sending students from their nations to interact with other students from possible rival nations or causing possible international conflicts. They're also the issues of international laws and differing laws conflicting with one another. Yanfei can explain it a lot better, but yet when she tries to explain it, it just goes over my head” Aether nodded, losing curiosity, and getting mildly bored. But Amber continued,

“The closest thing we have from the other nations that aren’t Liyue and Monstadt is Kazuha, who was born in Inazuma but moved to Liyue a few years back, making him eligible to come to Genshin High. We also have a Schnezyan exchange student."

“Oh okay," Aether said, having moved on. Amber continued to lead the two down the long beige halls of the school, and then suddenly stopped and turned around.

“Wait do you guys have P.A.I.M.O.N installed on your phones?” Amber said. Lumine and Aether said nothing, confused by Amber’s question.

“Okay I assume that’s a no, well I’ll send you the link to install it," Amber said, pulling out her phone which had a red phone case of a bunny, but it looked like her. The twins found it cute and wanted to ask more about it, but they were suddenly interrupted.

“Alright, I sent the link to your school emails, install it if you wish to be able to attend this school," Amber said sternly.

“Um okay, but what is it?” Lumine asked, confused by the strange link.

“P.A.I.M.O.N is an app that the school uses to track grades, assignments, and more. It was specifically designed for the school by an old faculty member, but then they disappeared and now no one knows who made it” Amber replied eagerly.

“Oh, cool so what does it stand for?” Aether asked.

Amber paused for a moment, and then sparked back to life and said “well when the creator made it, they also didn’t reveal the name and took the meaning with them, it’s a whole thing"

“Wow, many mysteries in this school” Lumine said sarcastically. Amber laughed sheepishly and replied,

“Yeah hehe" while rubbing the back of her head. The twins took a moment to download the app and input their school information. After a minute they were finished.

“Cool now that you're done with that, you
can find your schedule, what’s your first class?” Amber asked, curious and wondering which class they had together.

“Um we were told we had the same schedule,” Aether said and then he looked at his screen, finding his schedule and then adding “we have chemistry with an-” Aether paused again, squinting and was about to speak before Amber squealed, having leaned over and scanned Aether’s phone as well.

“OH! Chemistry with Mr. Albedo. He's my first class too, let’s go together!” Amber exclaimed and then grabbed the twin’s hand and dragged them to their first period.

“AND! We’re here!” Amber exclaimed, done dragging the two-pass many hallways full of students of sorts of varieties. Lumine couldn’t help but reflect on the people they saw, a girl with a giant raven (supposedly that must be Oz the raven), a redhead with a tall stoic dark-haired student, also seeing a pretty female staff who winked at them while they’re were being dragged and said “cutie” and Lumine couldn’t help but feel flustered at her pet name.

“Now warning before we enter, this class tends to get chaotic sometimes. Mr. Albedo likes science, and sometimes he exhibits mad scientist vibes. But it all chill because he still cares for us” Amber said. The twins were confused but they entered the classroom regardless.
