"Wow, it makes me not want to wait to kiss you when you look so adorably flustered like that. Guess we better hurry then?" He smiled in a way that made my heart skip like seven beats. "Oh, uh, yeah." I managed to reply despite my heart beating faster than someone chopping a carrot in an anime.

Your POV
"We had our selfish moment and we can have another once we're done but I think we should hand deliver these to Edric, to make sure he's all good on his own." I stated, in a way that showed there was no debate on this. "Sounds good with me." Hunter said with a kind of goofy smile.

I folded the pants and sweater over my arm, good thing Ed always complains about being cold cause any normal person would be sweating in these. "Hunter, do you get cold or hot easily?" I asked. "Hot." He replied before yawning. "Oh, lemme get you different PJs then." I yawned back.

I picked out these for Hunter,

along with a baggy Nirvana T-shirt. "Awesome, thanks Y/N." He said sleepily. "Yeah, anytime." I winked, seemingly to no notice.

Hunter POV
Y/N slid out of the tent carefully and I slipped out behind them. "See him?" I asked. "Uhh no." They replied. "What?" I whisper yelled feeling my heart beat a little faster. "Are you sure he's not out there?" "Wow no, I was joking. Yes I'm sure!!" Y/N exclaimed sarcastically. "Why would I joke about that?" They added. "..Sorry." I replied.

"Well, uh, where could he be?" I asked. "Uhh shit, i don't know. Kidnapped or uhh Belos or something?!" "Would Belos really do that?" "Maybe. I guess. I don't know. Wait, that's not what's important here!! We have to find Ed. Anyway to portal to someone you don't know where they are?" "Wow, why didn't I think of that? Cause it's like, really advanced. Sorry, not happening." "Guess we should start looking around then." I responded.

Your POV
"Where would Ed be?" I asked myself.  "Kidnapped." Hunter said nervously. "Not helping." "Skipped town." "Not useful." I denied. "Uhh drowned." "Stressful." "Sorry." He said rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"Wait, Hunter. You're the golden guard? You've never done any search and rescue?" "Oh." "Oh?" "Yeah, I've done search and rescue. I just never panicked like this since I didn't know the missing person. That's smart though." I took a really deep breath, to keep myself from losing my mind. Like a really deep breath.

Hunter POV
Search and rescue.. hmm.. where to start? "We should, look around first." "Alright, never would've thought of that." "In case there really is an intruder, we should stick together and be on guard at all times." I added. "Yeah, alright." "I hate to say this but we should check by the lake, drowning is a sad but true possibility."

"Rather think he's just chilling by the water but sure." "Do we gotta like, stand back to back like they do in cop shows?" "Sure." We shuffled down to the dock, just to see Ed sitting at the end of the dock with his feet in the water. He hadn't noticed us yet, his gaze focused on the water too heavily to noticed much of anything.

Your POV
I grabbed Hunter's hand from the pure stress of the situation. Is he like, crying or something? Is this a breakdown? What do I fo? What if he jumps in? I can't carry him up. What if it's all my fault and- something bad happens? I felt my breaths turn short & shallow, no matter how hard I tried to stop it. Tears dripped down my cheeks.

No, no, no. I can't deal with this right now. I used my arm to wipe away tears. All of a sudden Edric turned to us. "Hey guys? Wow, you look so dorky, standing like you're in a dumb cop drama. Really?" I moved away from Hunter feeling embarrassed, dropping his hand. He looked at me, hurt but I felt more tears spilling. My heart felt sore in my chest and my breaths were cut short again.

Hunter POV
"Y/N?" I asked panicking. "Y/N? Please don't do this, I can't comfort, I suck at it. No, no, no, no. You're kidding me. I can't do this. No, no, no." I put their hand in mine the way they'd  done for me, massaging their hand. "Y/N..? it's okay. See, Ed's fine, I'm fine, you're fine. Please, calm down." "I can't calm down, I- I can't breath."

"Shit, Edric, help?" "Uh, oh, umm, uh. They were always the one who calmed me down, not the other way around. I uhh, I don't know. What do we do? No, no, no, no. We can't do this. Crap." I put their head into my lap the way I'd been told the story of what happened in front of the coffee shop. "Come on Y/N, it's okay." I wiped some stray tears off their face with a calm smile.

That's reassuring, right? I tried to do all the things they do to make me calm. I massaged their hand but they kept sobbing into my leg.
