One sided hide & seek

Hunter POV
"Come on Y/N, it's okay. We're all okay. We found Ed, all in one, safe, healthy, undamaged piece. I'm fine, you're fine, all your friends are fine. It's okay." I massaged my hands through their hair, just wanting them to feel a little better. They choked a sob into my leg. I felt my heart sink. I never really thought about how impressive it was how they handled everyone else's panic attacks.

"Y/N, what's wrong? See, I'm fine!" Edric sounded like he wasn't that far from crying himself. "You better not start crying on me." I clenched my teeth. "I'm not!" He whined, laughing a little. "No but for real Y/N, what's wrong?" He repeated.

Edric POV
"If-" They choked out before sobbing a little harder. "If you- if you weren't okay, after we all left you- then- then- it would've been all our fault- we never- we never should've left you!" They wailed.

(I know the stuttering seems cringey but this is realistic, to my own experience at least. If I talk while crying it takes me a couple times of repeating myself to get it all out)

Am I really about to comfort someone cause they feel bad for ditching me...? Yes, apparently, yes I am. "Y/N." I soothed. "Obviously, it's not fun to get left out." They choked on a sob. "BUT you guys are dating and I'd rather you guys excuse yourself and give me some alone time.. Luz and Amity were doing lovey dovey stuff so I didn't wanna hang out with them." I laughed.

"Watching you guys, be lovey isn't really what I consider a good time, but I get it's gonna happen. It'll make me sad sometimes, but I'll get over it so... stop crying please? That's my last trick."

Hunter POV
I sighed, messing with Y/N's hair. "Come on, we can get through this together Y/N. We're your best friends, we're here for you and we can talk about this. Maybe later so you can uhh.." I lifted their face to see their red cheeks, puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. "Calm down a little." I tried not to chuckle.

"Don't- don't laugh!" They shouted falling into my lap again, a sharp sob hitting my ears like glass. "I'm not- I'm not laughing at you. I just feel so, stupid? You calm us down so easily and now here I am, failing at even starting to calm you down."

Your POV
"Really? You don't think I'm gross- or something- something like that?" "No, not at all. You're always beautiful to me." "Ughhh stop being mushy." Edric groaned.

"I think, you're really beautiful." I said, still avoiding eye contact, perfectly content in his lap. I choked back a sob that made my throat ache as it left me. "Will it- will it be okay?" I asked, cringing over what I said the second it left my lips. Hunter didn't laugh or ridicule me, neither did Hunter. They both overlapped each other as they spoke. Hunter said, "It'll be okay. I'm always here for you, I love you." Edric said "It'll be okay? It was okay last time and the time before that, wasn't it? It'll be okay."

"You guys are so sweet." I said, feeling a calm tear run down my cheek. "I really hope you're right about that though." I whispered to myself, not really sure if I wanted them to hear me or not." Hunter pulled me up so I was sitting, "Okay?" He asked. "Need more time." I said flopping onto his shoulder.

Edric POV
"Wait, why'd you guys come looking for me anyway? Just worried or what?" "Oh- Oh!" Y/N said laughing through teary eyes.

Your POV
I wiped away tears from my eyes "We brought PJs but I guess we got a liiiiittle distracted." I laughed, feeling my throat ache from crying. I created a portal, about as a watermelon in size before pulling through Ed's PJs. "Whatcha think?" "They're perfect. I love them, nice and warm!" He exclaimed. "I know you well." I teased. "You know it!"

"Why." I choked, feeling a pull on vocal chords as I said it. "Uh whaa?" Ed asked. "Why were you out here?" "I told you Luz and Amity were being Lovey, didn't I?" "Why here? Why not sit by the fire pit?" "It's a lovely view out here." "Ed?" I asked again. "I don't know, maybe I was a little upset. It's kind of hard being the only person not in a relationship you know?"

Edric POV
"What if something had happened? You could've fallen in and like drowned or someone could've taken or like, killed you?! You weren't thinking." Y/N looked pissed through their puffy eyes. "I had to clear my head, okay? Please calm down."
