A Teasing Valentine's Special

🔥🔥🔥

Wu Xie

He sat in the middle of a circle he had made as he categorize the books he was searching while in his uncle third house. Wang Meng was preparing him a bowl of noodles and as he waited he try to find whatever clue his uncle could have left aside from the list he had been given, but so far he didn't found anything useful for his search.

It was not surprising, of course that he was left in the dark once more after been giving a hint of something else and it was as frustrating as it always been since he was younger. He just keep asking himself why it was so hard to simply tell him all he needed to know, so he could help his uncle in whatever plans he had made, instead of running around to find things for himself with most of the time been too late.

"Boss... here are the noodles, eat them..." His thoughts were interrupted by Wang Meng, as he came inside the room, but Wu Xie was still more interested in searching than eating noodles, so he simply extended his hand without looking at Wang Meng, who was trying his best to make his Boss notice the train ticket he buy to go to Changsha in such hurry, but which was so masterfully ignored by Wu Xie on each attempt.

"Boss... about the train ticket to come here..." Wang Meng try a more direct approach, but Wu Xie once more ignore him, while still trying to figure out his uncle's puzzle.

"There is nothing here that can point me to somewhere else. To be honest, Xiao Hua may be getting ahead of me with his own research. Maybe I should had joined him instead of searching blindly like I am now. Xiaoge even suggest me to do so, which is so unlike him..."

"Because you are a danger magnet..." Wang Meng murmur and Wu Xie finally looked straight at him.

"What did you said?" He asked, but Wang Meng simply follow his example and ignored his Boss question.

"Master Hua have more resources than us, not to mention that he had a helping hand that doesn't forget everything..."

"It's not Xiaoge's fault to forget his past! He wants to remember, not forget..."

"Ah, yeah, sorry Boss..."

"You better be if you still want this job... Ah, I feel so bad for Xiaoge... it's not fair he keep losing his memories and I wish I can do more to help him recover them... but these incomplete pieces of the puzzle are really hard to find. That old fox... with just this paper what I'm supposed to find... wait..." Wu Xie said as he looked at the paper in his hand once more.

"In 1976 was the economy planning period, right?" Wu XIe asked Wang Meng.

"Hum, yeah..."

"Then, no matter shopping or issue wages, they were all recorded."

"Yeah..." Wang Meng mutter as he sadly looked at his ignored ticket.

"If this allowance bill was the subsidy record of the expedition in Banai in 1976, maybe what my uncle try to tell me was to not focus on the record itself, but in the members profiles that probably still exist to this day. He must have known that at least half of the members of the first expedition in Banai were killed, yet reappear in the second expedition in the Parcel Island with the same identity. If I can find the names of those of the first expedition that were replaced, then I can find those who had lived for the dead.

"Wait what? Who can live for the dead? What does that means? Is it a riddle?" Wang Meng asked confused.

"It's a good thing you don't understand..."
