14. Stay the night

ROZIE'S POV

Fireworks suddenly appeared in the night sky. Each one exploded one after the other. This was the highlight of my day.

Watching a fireworks display has always made me emotional. I recall what my father always say back when he was still with us. He always dragged me out of our house whenever fireworks appear in the sky. He'd carry me on his shoulders just so I could feel a little bit closer to the sky. I would reach out my right hand and try my best to capture the colors every time I close my palm.

It's been 5 years since the last time I was with him - before cancer took him away from us. Now, it's just me. Since then, I'm not just looking up to appreciate the burst of colors, I'm also wishing to see even just one glimpse of him from the heavens above.

I miss you Pa.

A pair of arms suddenly circled my waist jolting me out of my thoughts. It was him. I was taken aback but I didn't push him away. A hug is something I badly need right now. He tightly wrapped his arms around my waist and his head rested on my right shoulder. I smiled to myself. I spent the entire day with him and I love every moment of it. Seeing the places I've never been to was just a plus. It was him that made everything special.

I didn't want to lose the moment so I took a video of us. His eyes were closed. He's so angelic I don't want to blink at all. I know this day is coming to an end but I still want to be with him. He suddenly opened his eyes and saw what I was doing. I was afraid he'd make me stop the video but no, he even took his mask off and pulled off an all-out smile. This just made our moment perfect. I leaned my head closer to his and brushed my cheek on his temple. His embrace just got even tighter. We were feeling the same way. I may be going home in a few days but I'm taking this moment with me.

"Stay with me tonight."

I'm not sure if my mind was playing tricks on me but I'm sure I wasn't imagining things.

I stopped the video and faced him. "What?"

"Stay with me tonight. I want to spend more time with you."

O.M.Geeeee... I am totally losing it. Is he asking me to sleep with him? Do we even sleep at all? Maybe I'm just exaggerating. Maybe he meant dinner and some drinks. What do I do? Do I say yes? I want to. But what if he thinks I'm easy? If I say no, I don't want to say no!

"Please." How could I say no to this guy??! He doesn't even need to put so much effort into convincing me. All he needs to do is look me in the eye and I'd just surrender right at that instant.

I nodded and smiled shyly. His next move, however, just blew me away. He cupped my face with both his soft, cold hands and kissed me on the forehead.

I died.

For a few seconds, everything just zoned out. The touch of his lips still lingered and I swear I couldn't feel my legs. His face was still close to mine I can hear his every breath. His fingers tucked the loose strands of hair behind my ears. Then he whispered.

"I want to be alone with you. Let's go somewhere."
