Patton POV

I sighed, looking in the mirror at myself. I'm okay. It's okay. You're going to be okay.

I fixed my hair and walked back into my room. I pulled on light blue jeans, a white shirt that had silver and light blue stars on it, and than tied my cat hoodie around my waist. I pulled on my bubblegum pink converse and headed downstairs.

To my disappointment, I once again entered an empty kitchen. There was a note on the island.

Patton -
Your mother and I had to go on a business trip. We'll be back in a few days. I don't know what you can do for food. No friends can come over.
- Father

I sighed again, feeling tears in my eyes. They were never home. Always on some big business trip.

Even if they were home, it's not like they'd pay attention to me. They'd just hole up in their room or the office and work. It's always wrk. Never any family time.

I grabbed a poptart and headed to the front door, munching on it. I picked up my pastel galaxy bookbag and headed to school.

I followed my best friend Emile into the cafeteria. He was laughing and telling me about a theory he had about Steven Universe.

We sat down at our usual table and started eating our lunches. He kept rambling on, but I was being pretty quite.

"Hey...Patton." Said Emile. I looked over at him. "Are you doing okay? Your being quieter than usual."

"I'm fine." I told him, flashing him a quick smile. "My parents are on another business trip." Emile sighed.

"I wish they could see that they hurt you by leaving you alone all the time." Emile said, handing me a cookie. "I know you hate being alone."

"Yeah..." I mumbled, taking a bite of the cookie.

"Depression acting up again?" He asked quietly. I nodded.

"Want to have a sleepover tonight?" He asked. "To life your spirits."

"No friends over when they aren't home." I reminded him while rolling my eyes.

"Come over to my house than." He suggested. I smiled, starting to feel better.

"That sounds like a good idea." I told him. "Can I just come home with you right after school?"

"Yeah of course." Emile answered with a smile.

"What is up ladies~." Said my other friend, Remy Dormir, as he set his lunch tray across from us.

"Hey Remy." I said with a smile.

"Hey Remy." Emile echoed, giggling a little bit. I gently elbowed him, knowing that Emile has a huge crush on Remy.

"We were planning a sleepover since my parents left again." I told him.

"Sounds sweet." He said. "I'd come, but there's a party later tonight after the football game that I'm not missing."

"Of course." Said Emile quickly, looking down at his tray.

"If your not too drunk afterwards," I said. "You should just come over to Emile's house and sleep over."

"I don't see why not." Said Remy, taking a sip from his Starbucks. "If I'm not too drunk I'll be there around midnight."

"Sounds like a plan." I said giddily, forgetting about my parents abandoning me for the weekend.

Emile smiled brightly at me, thanking me silently. His gaze flickered past Remy and his smile turned into a smirk.
