As we were leaving Forks, I had asked the pack to not tell the Cullen's where I am. I needed time away from them after the way they stood there and let Edward talk and touch Payton like that. Rose and Emmett had left too. They had texted us they were going to go to their island for a while because Edward was still acting like a dick.
I decided to drive the whole time since I do not need sleep. Payton was sweet enough to get blood from the butcher and put into blood bags for me. We are about 10 hours into our drive and it is already dark. I had to get gas soon so as I was pumping the gas, I went to Payton's side and placed a blanket over her to keep her warm. I leaned her seat back to make her more comfortable.
Once we were back on the road, I turned on some music to occupy my time until she woke up. During the time she was asleep I couldn't help but think about this past week and how much we have grown closer just in a weeks time.
After I left the coven and moved in with her, things seem to flow so naturally. I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be married to her. Maybe adopt some kids, build a life on rez with her. She doesn't know about the living on the rez part but Sam and I discussed it some.
Flashback Before we left La Push I needed to talk to Sam. Payton went inside to tell everyone her goodbyes, so I took this time to talk with Sam. "Hey, can we go maybe talk for a few minutes?" I asked him.
"Yeah come on." He says. I follow behind him far enough away to where the others cannot here. "What's up?" He said.
"I know this is a long shot to take but I am going to ask anyways. I know I am allowed on the rez, and now since Loki and Payton found this spell for me, I wanted to ask about permanently living here on La Push. Payton loves it here, you all are her family, and since I left the coven you all have welcomed me even though I am the enemy. But all I want is for Payton to be happy and I know that could happen here. I thought about talking to her in giving Peter and Embry the house they have now to be theirs, and for Payton and I to have our own. That is with permission of being here of course. Plus, I want to ask Payton to marry me. Maybe it will happen while we are gone, but I want your permission for that as well. I know we just got back together but I do not want to go any longer without her being my wife." I blurt out.
Sam just looks at me. "You already have permission to be in La Push. The elders have known about the necklace being made and stated if it worked you can come and go as you please. I do not have a problem with you two building here. I appreciate you wanting Payton to be around us since we are her family. But Jasper you are family now too. You are her soulmate. Now as for the marrying my daughter. You serious about this?" He asks me in a firm tone.
"Yes. Being gone those 9 months, and now spending this whole week with her has made it even more clear that I was a fucking idiot for leaving her. I do not want to be without her any longer. I want to give her a happy life. I want to make her my wife, build her a house, adopt some children since we cannot have our own. I just want to give her a beautiful life that she deserves. She has had so much happen to her and part of that is my fault, so I want to make sure I make up for my piece and love her for the rest of my existence." I tell him looking into his eyes so he knows I am not lying.
"You are a good man Jasper who did a stupid thing. We all make mistakes so stop and forgive yourself since she has forgiven you. Take this time now to flourish in your relationship. And yes, you have my permission to marry her when you feel the time is right to ask the question." Sam says.
Flashback over
As I am driving I smile thinking about when I want to ask her and how. She deserves everything so I will try and give it to her. I continue driving and after a few more hours she wakes up. "Mmm morning cowboy" she says tiredly.
"Morning Darlin'. Sleep okay?" I asked.
"Yes, but I need to pee and get some food." She says.
I chuckle and see a some food and gas places up in a few exits. "We are a few exits away from where I can get gas. Plus there is some food joints around as well." I tell her placing my hand on her knee thats pulled up into her.
"Sounds good. Thank you for covering me up and laying the seat back." She says.
"Of course darlin'."
Soon we stopped and got gas and food. Once we got back on the road she found some places we could stop along the way for sight seeing. We ended up stopping at a few places and just enjoyed being out together. It was even better feeling human during this. I did not have to hide my skins or worry about the blood lust. It made enjoying this experience with her so much better.
After we got back on the road it did not take long for Payton to be asleep again. Over the next day and a half of traveling we continued to stop at sight seeing locations. Payton made sure to take plenty of pictures and even got some souvenirs at local shops to remember these places. Finally after 3 days, we made it to the Avengers compound. Time for more adventures to begin.
