Two Worlds Apart

Four months pregnant and I still can't believe it. This was such an interesting experience now that I'm aware of my son's presence. As he develops in me, we shared this connection, this bond that was unexplainable. We were learning each other in our own way.

I know there is a difference when it comes to working with children and having your own. Being able to now experience it, I am ready and excited to meet him in physical form.

Losing my train of thought as my phone rang, I knew it was Aug as this was our routine.

"Hey babe?"

"Wassup love? What you up too?"

"Was doing a journal entry."

"Oh, I apologize for disturbing you."

"Nah it's fine. How yuh day going?"

"Now you know that ain't how this goes."

"I know." I smirked. "Yuh so controlling, yuh just can't accept a little switch."

"So you're purposely messing with me?"

"My day was good babe. Nothing out of the ordinary." I ignored him.

"Well that's good. Tomorrow's your appointment right?"

"Mhmm." I nodded as I drank some water. "After work."

"You didn't apply for the day?"

"I thought bout it but then I thought about how I want to have days in just in case."

"Oh well okay."

"Will you be available for the video call?"

"Yes. I cleared all my shit for that. I'm not missing it."

"Okay."

Going quiet, this was something he did every time we FaceTimed. He would just be there staring at me.

"You always do that."

"Do what?"

"Stare at me while on a video call."

"Like you, I just like being in your presence without saying anything."

Slightly blushing, he just smiled at me. Relationship August was completely different than friendship August. They way he freely expressed himself was beautiful.

"Shanice coming over tonight?"

"Nah. It's just me, Roxi and this little one." I smiled rubbing my belly.

"Speaking of Roxi."

"Mhmm?"

"You think she'll respond well with our son?"

"Yes. She already does it now."

"For real?"

"Mhmm. Her temperament has changed since I came back. She knows there's a change happening and she has embraced it."

"Okay. That's all I wanted to know. I know she be going crazy when you get home, charging at you and shit."

"Our son is safe. You should see the way she comes and just lay her head on me."

"Yeah?" He smiled.

"Mhmm." I rubbed my belly. "This is still just so surreal."

"Yeen lie about that." He smiled. "But it's perfect at the same time."
