August

"Daddy gonna need you to give him two minutes to set up, aight?"

Staring at me with the blankest stare, I couldn't help but laugh. It was just the both of us at the house and I was in the process of putting together something for Chrysta.

Taking her dog for a walk, it was the perfect time to execute what I've been wanting to do a couple days now.

"What you think? These?"

Holding up two colors of flower petals, from his reaction, I decided to mix them both.

"Stay right there." I told him as he sat in his seat.

Quickly making my way out into the kitchen, I grabbed the bottle of wine she had chilling in the freezer. Getting back, my son sat there playing with his feet.

"Very good on listening son." I kissed him on his forehead.

Getting back to what I was doing, the sound of the gate was heard just when I was finished and soon enough she appeared in the doorway to her room.

"What's all this?" She asked.

"Something for us." I approached her. "I wanted us to talk in a calm space." I took her hand as we stood there. "I remembered  you telling me how you use the mat and the rose petals for realignment and I want to give it a try, with us."

"Okay. Let me just clean up first."

"Cool." I smiled.

Giving her some privacy, I took our son and went outside. Grabbing one of the pouches with puréed fruit, removing the cap, I gave it to him and he instantly knew what to do.

"How you got so smart man?" I chuckled.

Sitting on the couch, I sat him on my lap as we watched the tv. Waving one hand, I gave him my attention. Smiling with juice running down his chin, all I could have done was laugh.

"Ion know what ya momma be putting in these things. Let me get some?"

Taking it from him, he began to fuss. Taking a taste, it honestly tasted damn good.

"What this is?" I question as I looked that the front. "Mango with passion fruit." I nodded in approval.

"You know that's for our son right?" I heard, causing me to look to my right.

"I know. I was just checking the flavor."

"Okay. You ready to talk?"

"Once ya ready." I smiled.

Nodding, she turned and walked back into the bedroom while I got up with our son. Entering soon after, she was already sitting with her legs folded as I went to put our son in the play pen next to her bed.

"He's okay with that by himself right?"

"Yeah. The pouch is a no spill pouch."

"Aight cool. Didn't want him to make any mess."

"Trust me, I know. That's why I try to get things that prevent it."

"Before we start, mind if we said a prayer?" I held out my hands.

"Sure." She took them.

Taking a deep breath, we both exhaled before I began. Thanking God for life, health and both of them in my life, I asked him to continue to bless us. Saying 'Amen' once we were finished, I kissed the back of her hands before we let go.

"I know you're tired of me saying sorry so this right here is my way of us communicating better."

"Okay." She nodded.
