August

Closing the door after Chrysta left, I just stood there as my mind raced at the fact that she left. Taking some deep breaths, I tried to calm the anger that was brewing inside me. Walking back to where everyone were, I stood there looking at my mother.

"Aug I'm..."

"Delete the fucking picture."

After that, I just walked off. Heading upstairs, I went into the nursery and sat. Rubbing my hands down my face, I tried not to let my emotions get the best of me, but it did.

"Uncle Aug?" I heard followed by a light knocking.

"Come in." I called as I wiped my face. "Wassup love?" I asked Chaylin.

"Umm." She paused. "Chrysta didn't lie." She spoke. "I heard maw tell her it was all her fault and that she's not good enough for you, but she's wrong. Chrysta is great for you."

"Thank you baybeh."

Sitting on my lap, she hugged me.

"She's been helping me with my attitude."

"So I've heard."

"She's a really good listener and she understands what I'm experiencing as a teen. I don't want that to stop."

"What you mean?"

"I don't want y'all to break up." She looked at me.

"We won't."

Kissing Chaylin's cheek, she got up as did I. Going into my room, I changed out of my clothes, grabbed my keys and left my house heading over to her parents place without saying anything.

As I drove, my mind went back to everything that was said. Not for a moment did I doubt anything Chrys said. I knew she was at her limit, just for that kind of a reaction to come from her.

"My relationship is a joke." I shook my head.

To think my mother felt that way was crazy. Since Chrys been in my life, a lot has changed for me personally. The level of comfort I feel even being out in public with her, I didn't care if anyone saw us and she was always open and willing to try things I liked to do, encouraging me to do it too.

"Ain't no fucking way I'm gonna let my momma sabotage my relationship and family."

Taking the turn off, it didn't take me long before I pulled up behind her parents rental. Getting out, I walked up to the front door and rang the door bell.

Hearing the locks turn, I felt nervous. I didn't know how I would be greeted, if Chrys told them anything, it was just nerve wrecking.

"Hey..."

"She's upstairs." Her mom cut my greeting. "I don't know what's wrong." She let me in.

"There was an exchange of words with her and my momma." I admitted.
