August

"Babe?"

"Yeah?" She gave me her attention.

Entering the kitchen, we smiled at each other. Making breakfast for us as she had already fed Celeste, our day had begun.

"Father Joseph called. He wanted to know if we've decided on a date yet."

"The last Sunday in this month."

"Okay cool. I'll call him back and let him know."

"I have to do an invitation to send out."

"Printing or just the graphics?"

"Just the graphics. I'll make one to keep."

"Like we did with August." I smiled.

"Yessir."

Smiling at her response, when she looked up, she blushed.

"Wah yuh watching me so for?"

"Because I can."

"Eh heh? Who say so?"

"Me and God who gave me the gift of sight."

"I hear yuh." She then laughed.

Laughing with her, she handed me my plate then called our son. Once he had joined us, we held hands, blessed our meal and ate.

"Is Natasha coming today?" August asked us.

"She back from next week." Chrysta responded

"Yes!" He exclaimed.

"Don't get too excited because you have work to do for revision."

"Awe man. Why?" He fussed.

"Because I."

"Momma and I want you to brush up on what you've learned so you can show Natasha that you've remembered it." I cut Chrysta off.

"Fine." He mumbled. "But y'all know I remembered the work."

"We know love." She reassured him.

"Okay."

Glancing at her, she looked at me. Blowing her a kiss, she rolled her eyes trying to fight back her smile.

"Momma is gonna be working in her craft room today so I'm going to need you to check the chart and get your chores going and once that's done, we'll do some reading. Aight?"

"Yes dad."

"Good. We'll go out to dinner tonight too."

"Can I pick the place?" He asked.

"Sure."

"Okay, I'll get back to y'all."

"Well alright then." I chuckled as did Chrysta.

Once he was finished eating, he washed up his plate and cup, checked the chore chart on the fridge and then left.

"Thanks for stepping in just now."

"You're welcome. I know how you get when he asks why sometimes, especially when he's fussing."

"Sometimes I got it, sometimes I don't." She let out a small laugh.

"When Celeste wakes up, bring her for you?"

"Only if she's hungry."

"You know damn well she will be."

"True."

Sharing a kiss, she went and cleaned up while I got the breakfast wares. Getting some snacks from the pantry, and her water bottle, she let me know that she would be working.
