August

"I still can't believe he's five months already."

"Believe it." I laughed as I held my son.

"And he's so alert." She added. "Hey grandma's pudding."

Gaining a gummy smile followed by laughter, I looked at my mother as she continued to interact with him on FaceTime.

"Are they coming for Thanksgiving son?"

"I'm not sure as yet. According to how my schedule looking, I may be out here and Chrys and him will come for Christmas into the New Year."

"I like that option better."

Putting my attention on the door, Chrysta came walking in with what looked like a laundry hamper.

"Hi Ms. Sheila."

"Hi darling. How have you been?"

"Good." She looked at me and smiled.

Smirking, I licked my lips, causing her to blush more.

"I know you two ain't being nasty in front of me."

"We ain't momma." I laughed.

"And my poor grandchild is caught in the crossfire."

"I love you too momma."

"Ms. Shelia, when are your coming out here?"

"In Trinidad? Girl you know I don't like to fly."

"As you mention that momma, I'm not driving out to Houston to get you for Christmas. You need to get it together."

"I'll find my way or not come at all."

"HA!" I threw my head back. "You're not going to miss your grandson's first Christmas, so I know you lying."

"Whatever."

As we conversed some more, Chrysta sat folding the laundry she brought in. Realizing she hadn't come over to us, August began to fuss.

"Aight momma. This lah one tryna get his momma's attention."

"Alright. I'll talk to y'all later."

"Yeah momma."

"Bye Ms. Shelia." Chrysta added before I ended the call.

"Need any help ma?"

"I got it babe, thanks."

"You sure?"

"Mhmm. You focus on that little one in your arms."

"How can I when he's focused on you? This lah boy is momma struck."

"And not a thing is wrong with that." She laughed.

"You would say that." I shook my head.

"Anyway. You want to do anything today?"

"It's up to you. I'm cool with with just chillin with y'all home here."

"I'm okay with anything, I just don't want you to be bored. Especially where Terrence been up and about on his own."

"Now you know I ain't gonna be bored and just like you, I'm down for anything."

"Okay. I do want to make a food run though."

"Aight. Where you had in mind."

"I haven't made up my mind yet."

"That's a surprise. You always know what you ass want to eat."
