Chrysta

"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine."

Singing to my son while I gave him a bath, I smiled as he splashed around in the tub.

"Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine." I then kissed him.

We've been back in Trinidad a week now and it's been so hectic but great. The first two nights were rough but he adjusted eventually and I was happy about that.

"When we're done here, mommy's going to dry and change in your night clothes and get you all fed and ready for when grandma comes."

Aside from him adjusting to his new environment, I too had a hard time readjusting back into work life. After being with him everyday, all day, even though I worked half days, it was still tough. It blew my mind how attached I was to him and I loved it to be honest.

"Alright my love bug." I lifted him. "That's enough for today."

Fussing a bit, I laughed lightly. More and more he was loving water and I encouraged it. Living on an island, going to the beach frequently when I was younger, I wanted him to experience the same.

"I know babe, but I can't keep you in the water for too long." I dried his face. "Plus, mommy and auntie Shanice are taking you to the beach this weekend." I tickled his little chin.

Finished dressing him, as I laid him on my bed to clean up, my phone rang. Getting it, Aug was FaceTiming me. This was earlier than he usually did but I didn't mind for the fact that I missed him.

"Hi babe." I smiled.

"Wazzmin my love? Whatchu up too?"

"Just finished bathing and changing our son. Was cleaning up when you called."

"Oh aight."

"You out tonight?"

"Yeah. I have a hosting to do. This was a last minute one."

"Okay. Just have fun and stay safe."

"I definitely will babe." He smiled. "Let me see my lah boy."

Placing my phone down, I lifted our son then picked back up the phone. Sitting, I positioned him in a way Aug saw the both of us. From the moment he heard his dad's voice, he got excited. Touching the screen, all I did was laugh.

"He misses you so much."

"I miss him too, the both of y'all."

"I too. Any idea on when we'll see you?"

"I'm working on it."

"Okay." I nodded.

"How was today though?"

"It was good. The usual. My children had me talking but they were happy that I was back."

"I'm sure they are. How are your feeling?"

"I'm feeling good. This first week, with mommy watching him when I leave has been good. She's coming over in a bit actually."

"You heading out?"

"Just to get something to eat with Shanice and to catch up."

"Okay. You need anything?"

"I'm fine." I let out a small laugh.

"Aight." He nodded.

Knowing him, he would send me money anyway, but I really didn't need anything. Conversing some more, he was telling me about his day and what took place at one of his photo shoots.
