Chapter 21: Irene Rose

 After bidding Aunt Flora a goodbye, David and me, headed back to Alpha James' home where I fell asleep in the room I was assigned to, dreaming about how today went.

   When I woke up the next morning, Alpha James' was already in the kitchen where a she-wolf was cooking breakfast. I could smell the delicious bacon odour and freshly cooked eggs that drifted into my nostrils. I sat down next to Alpha James who was chatting into his phone whilst scooping up some of his breakfast into his mouth. I smiled warmly, watching his mouth tweak up slightly before returning back to his call.

  The Omega made handed me a plate filled with heaps of bacon and eggs, plastering a warm smile as she also delivered me a glass of cold orange juice. The aroma of the food made my stomach grumble in delight and just as I was handed my eating utensils I dug in ungraciously. I didn't know I was starving until now. 

   I was my last bite of my food when Alpha James started up a conversation.

  "The new hair colour looks nice. Flora must've done a heap load," he commented, sipping some orange juice and wiped the corners of his mouth with a napkin.

  "Yeah. It felt dry until she added some treatment, it still feels dry, but it's smoother and stronger." I hummed, chewing on some bacon before swallowing and giving him a polite smile. "Yes, it does look really good on you." he beamed before standing up and wiping the non-existent dust off his jeans.

 "Thanks, where are you off too?" I questioned, seeing him moving towards the door hastily. "Pack meeting, I'll ask David to show you around. I really going to go, cya!" he waved and fled the house quickly and closed the door behind him. I shrugged, soon the maid came up to take away the dirty dishes and I thanked her for patiently waiting in the living room for David to come by.

  Twenty minutes later the sound of someone knocking rang through the room, I immediately got up to answer the call to see David with a bright smile on the other side of the door. I beamed at him and ushered him inside where we both sat down whilst chatting about what we were going to do today. David was a nice person overall, he was funny and seemed to like where he lived and I was grateful to have a friend like him.

  "So today I thought we could go take a stroll around the pack. I'll show you the training grounds, the packed house, the meeting grounds, where the kids take up school and all that," he informed me before we left the house. I could feel the bubbles of excitement as we left the Alpha's house and we made our way left to where the training grounds were. Already I could see multiple pack warriors running around, weight lifting and sparring, I was in awe at how fast these warriors are and how there were also a few women amongst these meaty warriors.

 "You have girl warriors!" I exclaimed, smiling in awe at these powerful women. I could hear David chuckle behind me. "Yes. However, they go through a much more extensive training. The she-wolf warriors are hand picked. First, there is a group that trains the women who want to be a warrior, then we pick those who have excelled greatly in their training. With the men, they have to be born into it or be picked by the Beta's and Gamma's and so forth." he explained to me as I watched in awe at two she-wolves sparring with full force.

  "Wow! In my pack, we don't have she-warriors, none that I've seen anyway." I told him, sitting down to watch them spar. These she-wolves must be very powerful to be in the ranks where men should be, I was surprised at how strong they were and committed they seem to be. I've never seen something like this in my life, I'm surprised at this women empowerment this pack has. Two brunettes were getting in a much-heated spar, their fists crashing into each other, as their feet and legs tried to make each other lose their balance.

  We were metres away from the training grounds and I couldn't help but want to crawl over there and try to fight or learn with them, but I resisted myself from doing so, I can't go in there without my wolf I'll be killed.

Poor Crescent, where is she?

  My heart felt heavy at the thought, I don't where she went, if she's gone or if she's just hiding. But, I miss her and even though I was foolish enough to forget her, now that she's back in my thoughts, I feel like crying again. With my mood dampened, I pushed my legs up so I could hug them as comfort, tears threatening to spill at the missing part of me as I breathed out heavily.

 David seemed to sense my uneasiness and kneeled down beside me.

  "It's your wolf, isn't it? You know, I could sense your wolf disappeared when you first appeared, but you still smelt like a wolf, meaning she's in there somewhere," he said, trying to cheer me up as he sat down next to me on the hill overlooking the training grounds. I gave him a measly smile as I stared at the Warriors training. "Yeah, I know. I just miss her you know. She left when A- never-mind." I muttered out, not wanting to delve much into my past.

  I may have slightly lied about kidnapping, but everything else was true. I just didn't want to frighten David about the Alpha that will be looking for me, if he even bothers anyway. "She left when what?" David asked I shook my head not wanting to answer the question as I felt myself get lost. "Let me guess, she left when your mate forcefully tried to mark you, or someone other than you mates, considering I can see your mark peeking out. It's purple and bloated meaning it was taken without consent. I can see why you escaped. However, you smell familiar and I've only come in contact with a few people outside of this pack." he told me, almost figuring me out because of my mark.

 It was weird to know David was very observant, now he needs to know who it was. "Bingo, you almost got it right, minus the part who it was." I sarcastically said under my breath. He chuckled and placed a friendly hand on my shoulder and gave me a small smile. "I know you don't want to talk about what happened to you, I've only known you for two days barely. A few people have noticed your mark actually. The Alpha, my aunt and a few people who passed us while walking here. We take these things seriously, marking someone without their consent is against wolf law, that's why Alpha James had a pack meeting, he wants to find out who did it. And he won't stop until he finds out, that's why he's Alpha." he said proudly and my stomach dropped very quickly.

He won't stop until he finds out, Alpha James what have you gotten yourself into?
