"But father" I pleaded. "I don't want to"

"What's wrong with Prince Arthur? He's a respectable man. Just meet him" My father, the king said.

"I don't want to meet the prince of Camelot, let alone marry him." I said.

"You will do as I say. Now let's go." My father said.

I sighed. I didn't want to do this. But, whatever he said, I had to do. I reluctantly walked out the door and over to my horse.

"No need to be so dramatic. You are a princess y/n, act like it" My father said.

"Yes sire" I said before getting onto my horse.

I would be lying if I said that I wasn't mad. I wanted to be free to do whatever I wanted. To love who I want, marry who I want. Not to have some arranged marriage for the good of my kingdom and for the good of Camelot.

"A lot on your mind?" My father asked.

I remained quiet. I knew that if I did speak, all of the words that would come out of my mouth would be venomous. I would sound angry and deceitful, so I dared not say a word.

"I'll take that as a yes" My father said as we rode off to Camelot.

I knew the ride to Camelot would be a long one. I begun to quietly hum to myself, in order to one, keep myself awake, and two, in order to keep myself calm. All of this was making me incredibly nervous, and I felt like, that at any moment I may burst into tears.

"Are you angry?" My father asked.

"No, of course not sire" I lied.

My father nodded his head and we continued on.

Seven hours later

I got off of my horse. King Uther and Prince Arthur walked over to greet us.

"Thomas, good to see you again" Uther said.

My father got off of his horse. He shook Uther's hand. "It's good to see you again as well Uther. It's been to long" He said.

"To long indeed." Uther said. "This is my son Prince Arthur"

"Hello Prince Arthur." I said.

"Please, just call me Arthur." Arthur said.

"Alright" I said.

"You two must be exhausted from your ride. Come inside" Uther said.

I nodded and all of us walked to the entrance of the palace. After a short walk we reached the door and walked inside.

"If you need anything, just let Guinevere know" Arthur told me. "She'll show you to your room"

"Hello. I'm Guinevere" A girl said.

"Hello. I'm y/n." I said.

"Right. The king told me he was having guests. I'll show you to your room." Guinevere said walking off.

"Okay" I said as I followed her.

Two days later

"That didn't go as planned at all" I said before sitting down in my bed.

"What do you mean my lady?" Guinevere asked.

"My father. He brought us here because he wanted me to get to know Prince Arthur. I, of course told myself that I wouldn't fall for him. I didn't want to. I didn't want to marry just for the good of our kingdoms" I said.

"Well, now you don't have to" Guinevere said.

"I can't marry someone I just met" I said.

"Why not?" Guinevere asked.

"I don't truly love Arthur" I said.

I heard a knock on the door.

"Can I come in?" Arthur asked.

"Of course" I said.

Arthur opened the door and walked in. "Guinevere, give us a moment" He said.

Guinevere nodded and walked out of the room.

"Is everything alright my lord?" I asked.

"Please, for the fifth time, thats not necessary. Just call me Arthur." Arthur said.

"Right. Of course. Is everything alright?" I asked.

"So, you know that our fathers want us to get married." Arthur said.

"Yes, I am well aware of this fact." I said.

"Is it what you want?" Arthur asked.

"What I want doesn't matter. It is the good of our kingdoms that matter." I said.

"Is that what you truly believe y/n?" Arthur asked me.

I shrugged my shoulders softly. "I don't know what I want Arthur. I know I can't marry someone that I met only two days ago. It doesn't seem right to me." I said.
