Steve had been working at the movie store for a few days now. I had, until recently, been out of town.
My family and I had gone on a brief vacation, and by brief vacation, I mean we had actually moved.
Steve and I stayed together, despite the fact that I had been living on the other side of the fucking country for the past two months.
The both of us hated the whole situation. Not being able to spend hours upon hours with one another. Only being able to talk for a certain amount of time on the phone.
To the both of us, me moving to another state was absolutely miserable. We tried to make the best of a shitty situation though.
Today, fortunately, was the end of that shitty situation. Although, he didn't know that. I hadn't told him that me and my family were moving back to Hawkins.
Part of me felt like I should have told him, but the other part of me wanted to surprise him with the fact that me and my family were back in Hawkins. After two months apart, I kinda just wanted to surprise him.
Although, I decided that it would also be funny to troll with him. I had bought a water gun a couple months back. I filled it with water.
I had a bandana covering my face, and my hood was up.
I opened the door to the movie store. I spotted Steve. His back was currently facing the opposite direction.
I walked over. "Hands up." I said, deepening my voice, trying to make it unrecognizable.
Steve turned around. "What the hell? I don't have time to deal with this bullshit right now." He said.
I chuckled lightly. "Gotcha" I said. I took off the bandana and pulled down my hood. "Surprise."
Steve had a look of both surprise and happiness. "I thought you moved." He said.
"A couple months ago, yeah. But uh, we moved back to Hawkins. My parents decided Hawkins is home. Despite, the insane bullshit." I said.
Steve ran out from behind the counter. He picked me up and hugged me. "It wasn't very much home without you." He said.
I snickered. "You going soft of me, Harrington?" I asked.
Steve put me down. He lifted my chin up slightly. "Absolutely." He said before pecking me on the lips.
I smiled. "Did I actually trick you though?" I asked.
Steve shook his head. "Babe, no. You didn't trick me. I knew it was you." He said.
"No you didn't. Liar." I said.
"Alright, alright. I didn't." Steve said.
I rolled my eyes. "When do you get off?" I asked.
"Couple hours." Steve said.
I made a pouty face. "But, but Steeeeeve. That's foreverrrrr." I groaned.
"I know." Steve said.
"Well, I'm not going anywhere. Sooo, you do your thing, and I'mma just, be here." I said.
"What if I get distracted?" Steve asked in a slightly flirty tone.
"Distracted?" I asked.
"Yeah. I mean, a beautiful girl like you, how could I not?" Steve asked, placing his hands on my waist, and pulling me in closer.
"Hey, dingus. Stop flirting with a customer and actually do the job" Robin said.
"Girlfriend" Steve and I said in unison.
"You have a girlfriend?" Robin said.
"Yeah. Y/n, that's Robin. Robin, this is Y/n. My girlfriend." Steve said.
"Okay. Well, you can hang with your girlfriend, after." Robin said.
Steve rolled his eyes then let go. He walked back to behind the counter. "Did you move back into your old house?" He asked.
"Yeah. So, you know where to find me. Bring a movie. We can watch a movie, and cuddle." I said before walking to the door then leaving.
Time skip
There was a knock at the door. I walked over to the door then looked out the peep hole. I saw Steve. I back up a little bit then opened up the door.
"Hey." Steve said.
I stood to the side. "Hey." I said.
Steve walked in, and I closed the door behind him.
"I brought E.T., first time you saw it, you said you absolutely loved it, so I figured it would be a good choice." I said.
"That was three years ago. We barely knew each other back then. Back then you were just some guy my parents invited over because they knew your parents. You were kinda a dick back then though." I said.
"Okay, true, and ouch." Steve said before walking to the living room.
"It is true though. You used to be such an ass." I said.
"Okay. Thank you, I'm aware of that." Steve said before turning on the TV. He bent over and put the movie into the VHS.
I plopped down on the couch. "It's okay. You're a much better guy now. You're not an ass, you just have a nice ass." I said.
Steve stood up then turned around. "Wait, what did you just say?" He asked.
"I said. You have a nice ass." I said.
Steve walked over to the couch and plopped down next to me. "So I did hear you correctly." He said.
"Yes. Yes you did." I said.
"Fuck, I love you." Steve said.
"You what?" I asked.
We had been together for three months now, and this was the first time that Steve had actually told me he loved me. It was always implied in the little ways, the things he did. But he hadn't actually said it until today.
"Shit. I said that out loud." Steve said.
"Steve-" I started.
"Was it to soon? Shit. Forget I said it" Steve said.
"Steve-" I started.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make things weird." Steve said.
"Steve-" I started once more.
"Maybe I should go." Steve said before attempting to get up.
I pulled him back down onto the couch. "I love you too." I said.
"You do?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, Steve. I really fucking love you." I said.
