Daryl and I had been on the run together for three years, we had separated from the group after Rick's death, we got on his bike and we never looked back, he had been my saviour from the beginning. And we had each other, he was my best friend, he held my hand and got me through the pain. We were all we needed, it didn't need to be any other way. As we got through the woods further, I was having some water, checking for food, anything I could find. We had set up camp and I was looking for something we could have, if there was anything left. I went back towards our camp, empty handed. Again. "You alright?" He asked me, "I'm just fed up, I guess." I sat down beside him, as he looked down, playing with his hands. "Are you okay?" He nodded, as he looked out, staying silent. I grab his hand, squeezing it softly. He looked at me for a moment, before he pulled his back, standing up and just walking away, probably to go and find Dog. I clench my jaw, as I sat there, a pang hit my chest as I felt like I wanted to cry. I'd tried so hard to get close to him, but he never opened up to me, he didn't care anymore. He seemed so far away, I couldn't even do anymore. I turn and walk off, into the woods. Like he would even care. "Y/n?" I turn back, "Where are you goin'?" He looked confused. "I'm done, Daryl. I'm so done." He frowned, shaking his head. "What are you on about?" He watched me, as I take a breath. "Rick is dead. Nothing can bring him back and that's it. I'm so done. Finished."

"Fine, walk away. See if I damn care." He snapped back, I clenched my jaw as I roll my eyes. "Goodbye, Daryl." I turn and I started to walk away, breathing heavily as I was so angry, he just let me leave and he didn't care. I was right, maybe the idea of loving someone else just didn't matter anymore. I felt his eyes on me as I walked away, but I couldn't look back, I had to keep going, even if I was alone. "God damn it, y/n. Come back already, you're being stupid." He came right after me, as he grabbed my arm suddenly, pulling me back. "What the fuck are you doing?" I frown, as he looked at me. "You're being a fuckin' brat. What did you promise me when we left?" I look away, "I promised I'd never leave, no matter what." I sighed, "Exactly. You're stuck with me, so stop walkin' away and come back." He let go of my arm, as I followed him back, "I think I love you, Daryl." I stop, as he froze. He just stood there, I felt stupid for even saying anything. "What?" He looked back at me, frowning. "It's been three years, how was I meant to just stay friends with you? I've had feelings for you.. for a long time. God, just forget I said anything." I sat down by a tree, playing with my hands as he watched me, "Me too." He mumbled, I look up, "I'm sorry?" He was blushing like crazy. "I do too and shit." He shrugged, he couldn't even look at me. I bite my lip, holding a smile back. "You love me too?" He just nodded, "Yeah. I do." He mumbled, as I stay silent. "Okay." I didn't need him to say anything else, it was way more than enough. "Come on." He held out his hand, as I grab it, I pull myself up and he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, as we walked back to our camp. I lean against his shoulder, as we didn't have to say anymore, it was more than enough and he showed that to me.

"Do you think we'll find him?" I sat down next to the fire as it began to get dark, he sits opposite me, "Rick?" He shrugged, like he was uncomfortable. "I hope so." He looked down, as I watch his eyes through the fire. "I miss him all the time, Daryl. All the time." I didn't want to be anymore awkward. "I'm gonna go to sleep." I stand up, as he suddenly grabbed my hand, "Can you stay a bit longer?" He asked me, as I look up at him, but he didn't look away. Not this time. "Yeah. Of course." I sit down with him, as I lean into his shoulder, I felt his arm around my back, as I smile a bit. "Are you okay?" I whisper, "I am now." He told me, as I feel him kiss my forehead, I glance up at his eyes, as he watched the fire, "Thank you."

"As long as you're here, I'm home."
