"... Why did we have to bring him?" Alysha moaned as she descended the stairs down into the remains of Evelyn's laboratory.

"I can hear you, you know." Jace said as he followed her down.

"I am aware."

"Because it was just easiest." Evelyn told her, her voice restrained as she mediated their bickering.

"It's stupid. I don't need a babysitter."

"That's debatable." Evelyn mumbled, quietly rolling her eyes.

"He's all talky and... blond."

"I'm actually a natural blond."

"Do I look like I care?"

Jace was grinning way too much at Alysha's aggravation; only causing her to become more annoyed.

Just as Alysha was debating the best way to remove his eyes, Evelyn interrupted again. "Alright, that's enough. Quiet down, you don't know what's in here. Alysha, what are we looking for?"

Alysha beckoned them to follow, pushing aside some of the medical curtains. The place was so very white and stark, but marked up with the dust and dirt of having been abandoned.

Still in a dark mood, Alysha huffed, shooting a glare at Evelyn. "Do you know how much I hate being in this place?" She shuddered.

"Sorry." Evelyn said flatly. "I had to ensure you weren't a risk."

"Yeah. You will be sorry." With a huff, she forged forwards. Jace followed in her wake, Evelyn coming up more slowly behind, examining the wider surroundings.

And there is was; illuminated in a soft glow, a large, cylindrical case full of liquid, within which was once held the mummified torso. Except it wasn't there.

Immediately Alysha stopped in her tracks, lip trembling, then walked towards it; crossing with strong strides. She slammed her hands against the glass, peering inside at the empty fluid.

"Where is it?" She exclaimed, peeling herself off the glass to gesture with her hand. "The thing that was in this case- where's it gone?"
