Platonic:

Scar thinks himself the master of all things intellectual and views reality as an unjust force that responds most vibrantly to callous aggression. Others overlook his greatness, and his friend represents an opportunity to construct the perfect follower. He tricks them into carrying out his will by pretending that his goals are no different from theirs, meeting failure with the condescending notion that they must not have tried hard enough to succeed.

In Scar's jaded and selfish vision, his opinions and plans are supreme and infallible. Everyone else is plagued by self-doubt and timid morality, and to secure their loyalty and admiration, Scar shares bits of this apparent wisdom with his friend. He expresses concern for imagined threats and hides his intent to degrade their trust in life behind a veil of innocence. The world is their enemy, and Scar is their only respite.

Romantic:

Scar has a penchant for manipulation and little tolerance for rebellion. His words begin as deceptively sweet and unassuming worries about his partner's safety and happiness, but the same voice grows bitter and malevolent when ignored or refuted. He listens to his partner when they discuss flaws and insecurities, and this information is exploited to control and discourage them.

Where his family has failed to appreciate his superiority, Scar sees a chance to win with his partner. He craves recognition of his power and authority, two qualities whose existence is restricted to his mind, and believes the path to respect lies in deceit and intimidation. Kindness is a ploy to make future manipulation easier, and warmth is only ever a reward for obedience.
