A.N. - Here is my biting satire on bureaucracy.
Platonic:
Following the legacy of elite scaring and representing an esteemed family generates a level of prestige on-campus that Johnny likes to flaunt. In exchange for recognizing his importance and never declining an offer for his rapport, his friend is rewarded with additional excused absences and omissions from certain tests. They are showered with preferential treatment in a host of areas, such as preference for admission, scholarships, and extra time on projects.
Johnny exploits the leeway provided by his family name and encourages his friend to rely on his support to graduate from college. Every bad grade is dropped or corrected, and they are allowed to ignore most rules and deadlines for the sake of comfort. By enabling any potentially self-destructive habits, Johnny compels them to be dependent on him.
Romantic:
A life swamped in opulence and unchecked authority has bestowed Johnny with a materialistic outlook on affection. If his partner is receptive, his gifts are abundant, such as new clothes, and sometimes extravagant, such as grade bumps. The college and its faculty have learned not to question the unruly behaviour of Johnny or his associates, and Johnny is keen to remind his partner of the power he wields should they grow distant.
Johnny, with the help of his fraternity brothers, establishes a network of surveillance through which he monitors his partner's daily schedule and inserts himself into it whenever an opportunity for bonding is revealed. The other members of ROR are thanked for their superficial assistance but divorced from his more personal interactions, for Johnny fancies himself their superior and does not trust them to portray him in the most flattering light. He wishes to keep the relationship as devoid of distractions as possible, monopolizing as much of his partner's time as is feasible.
