Tony Stark

What a long day. Although my job always kept me busy, today had been especially grueling. After a day like today, all I wanted to do was come home, relax, and find Tony. Despite me being his assistant, it wasn't very often that our paths crossed during the workday. Things had been going incredibly well between us lately and I had been pleasantly surprised to find that Tony Stark was a very different person in real life once you got to know him and that he was nothing like the version of himself that he portrayed to the media. Throughout the last couple of months, I had come to learn that Tony was one of the kindest and big-hearted people although he hated making it known to the outside world. I hadn't been working at Stark Industries for very long when my whirlwind romance with Tony had started. I knew from the first time we met that something had sparked between us, and the more time we spent together, the more apparent it became, and the more intense our attraction for one another grew. And although our attraction toward one another was undeniable, and our romance a whirlwind, we had yet to go out on any real dates. We both agreed that although things had gotten off to a quick start, taking it slow was in our best interest. I hadn't been in a committed relationship in a while, and Tony hadn't been in a committed relationship ever. Another benefit of taking things slow was staying out of the public eye. I didn't mind staying in, after a busy day at work I was often exhausted and it was nice to come home and put my feet up, watch a movie and just curl up on the couch with Tony.

When I stepped through the door, I immediately noticed that something was different: Tony was nowhere to be found. Most nights J.A.R.V.I.S announced to him that I had arrived home and he was sure to meet me at the front door. But tonight the entryway of the house was dark, and Tony was nowhere in sight. 'That's weird" I muttered to myself as I slipped out of my heels and dropped my bag on the bench near the door. After taking a quick look around I noticed that none of the lights were on in the house, something else that was quite unusual. The only source of light was a dim glow coming from the kitchen. Something was definitely up. Shaking my head, I started towards the kitchen, my bare feet not making a sound on the tile floor. I paused in the entryway to the kitchen, watching the scene before me unfold. There was Tony in the kitchen, his back turned to me, frantically talking to someone on the phone in whispered tones. "Are you absolutely SURE that her favorite is (your favorite flower)? And in (your favorite color)?" Whatever the person he was talking to said seemed to reassure him; I noticed his shoulders drop and heard him sigh. Unsure of how else to announce my presence, and the fact that I had been watching him, I cleared my throat.

Tony turned around in shock, obviously unaware that I had been standing there watching him. A puzzled look crossed his face before he schooled it back into perfect composure. "How long have you been standing there watching me?" He asked, still surprised. "Uhhh..." I trailed off, still unsure of how to explain myself. "J.A.R.V.I.S didn't even tell me that you were home. I was gonna meet you like always and surprise you." He said, clearly defeated that his plan hadn't gone the way he had wanted it to. "Don't you worry, you still managed to surprise me. This is...amazing." I assured him. He stepped aside so that I could see what he had been up to. Set on the table were candles, my favorite flowers, favorite wine, my favorite dinner, and a box of my favorite chocolates. "You did all of this? Why?" I asked, absolutely in awe of the incredible surprise in front of me. "Because I've seen how hard you've been working lately, and I know how exhausted you are. I thought it would be nice for you to come home to something special. And I know it hasn't been long but I've never felt this way about anyone before so I wanted to-" He continued to ramble, and it was the first time I had ever caught the perfectly composed Tony Stark rambling. Unsure of how else to stop him, and feeling bold, I closed the gap between us and gently pressed my lips to his. It was enough to silence him for a moment. "I really appreciate all this. Let's enjoy dinner." I said, taking his hand and leading him towards the immaculately set table. "Ok, but after dinner, we're doing that again." He said, sending us both into a fit of giggles.
