When he opened his eyes, he was surrounded by darkness. He was about to light a talisman when a figure appeared in front of him. "Cheng cheng~ did you miss me?"

Third Person POV

Jiang cheng opened his eyes and sat up. His surroundings were different from what he remembered. He let out the breath he held. Just then the door opened and Hui zhong walked in. "Sect leader Jiang! you're finally awake." The disciple placed the tray he held in his hands on a nearby table. "How did I get here?" The disciple sighed and kneeled near his bed.

"You gave everyone a fright. Li xu was going to light up the Left side when she saw you laying unconscious on the ground. If that maid did not see you, who knows what might have happened." Jiang cheng rubbed his eyes and took another look at the disciple. He was sure he just saw Wei wuxian complaining about him.

He shook his head and looked at his finger and let out a sigh of relief to the purple ring wrapped around his finger. He then looked around to find his sword. Hui zhong sighed and pointed at the table, under which the sword laid. "Sect leader Jiang did you hear anything I just said?" Jiang cheng nodded and shook his head. Hui zhong sighed again, "You need to eat, the physician said you're not eating well. That's why you fainted." Jiang cheng nodded and sat near the table, taking his sword and unsheathing it. He turned it around to make sure there was not a single drop of blood found.

Jiang Cheng POV

Blood! why is everything covered in blood. I quickly took out a cloth from my sleeves and wiped it off, but to my despair, it did not go. I kept rubbing it, but it only became bloodier. I roughly swiped across it, cutting my palm in the process. I could hear faint noises behind me, telling me to stop.

I turned towards the familiar voice and saw the man of my misfortune. "Wen Chao!" I gritted my teeth and slashed my sword through him. I could see the blood falling down, dirtying the floors. "I will kill you a thousand times if I can." I laughed like a manic. Good for him. For all he did, death isn't enough.

I withdrew my sword and saw him fall down. "This is for me." Saying so, I pushed the sword down on his head. But the man disappeared. How dare he! I held the sword tight and ran towards the end of the cliff where he stood smiling with that bitch clinging onto him. "Die!"

I ran towards them but the moment I pushed my sword forward, Wei wuxian appeared. "Is killing me once not enough, cheng cheng. I already gave you everything I had, but you still had to despise me. You try to kill me in every chance you get. Why?" He slowly stepped forward as I stepped back. Keeping our distance constant. No matter how much I try, the sword is not moving. Pointing to his neck but not piercing it.

I couldn't move back anymore. There was no space for me to. I was already at the cliff's edge, but he does not seem to mind. Then again, why should he. After all that I have done.

Wei wuxian, "Come on, do it. Kill me again, like you always did." I took a deep breath in and stepped back when I saw him stepping forward. "Don't move. One step and we both die." I froze. He took another step forward and I used all my energy to move the sword. And thankfully it did.

I threw my sword down and looked at him. It was hard to breathe, but I still did. Wei wuxian laughed, his eyes glowing red. "You should've done it went you had the chance. Stop acting pathetic. You disgust me." My breath hitched as I felt warm tears flow down my cheeks. I closed my eyes, nodding. "You're not wrong there." I replied, but he just laughed louder. "Pathetic failure." Darkness surrounded him and various spirits looked at me with resentment.

Wei wuxian, "You killed them all and yet you're here enjoying your life. How unfair." He held his Suibian and pushed it deep into my chest. I stepped back unable to handle the force. The edge ended and I fell down. I could clearly see his hatred. I saw it in the Gusu Dining hall as well. As long as this helps. I closed my eyes, but I glanced at the disappointment in all of their eyes. I'm sorry for being useless. I failed to protect everything... protect all of you. I'm really sorry.

I turned towards the familiar voice and saw Hui zhong looking at me worriedly.  I shook my head trying to erase the illusion that stood behind him. He stepped forward and I shook my head again. Just then, I saw a black cloudy figure with bright red eyes, trying to bite him. I slashed it with my sword and pushed him aside.

I shook my head again when I felt my vision turning blurry. I looked at the slashed being and gasped when I saw myself on the floor. I bent down and checked the wounds but none of them were from my sword. I lifted my head and checked my pulse when I felt blood on my hand.

I turned the head and saw a huge hole. I fell back and saw my bloody hands. I went near it and turned the head around to make sure it was me. "...W-wei wu-xian... how did- how d-did... you-" He fluttered his red eyes open and held my face with his bloodied hands. "Cheng cheng, I lost everything to you. Now I have nothing, why do you still hurt me. You pushed me down while I held you up. You left me to suffer in this world by myself. What more do you want? Was seeing me dead once not enough? Should you kill me a thousand times?"

"No... I-I did not mean to-" The man I abandoned fell from the cliff as I stood there with a sword pointed towards him. I tried to extend my arm, but it did not help. "You're too late cheng cheng. You failed to protect everyone. All those who you treasured; you killed them with your own hands. Do you think they'll forgive you?"
