---------when you were little--------

You were awoken one night by the sound of a crash. Your eyes adjusted to the darkness and you saw your room, but you heard footsteps outside your door and voices that didn't sound familiar to you.

You were afraid of the idea of strangers in your house. You saw your window was unlocked, so you quietly got outta bed and tiptoed over to your window. You open it and look out. Your room's on the ground floor, so you can easily climb out and run away.

"You think anybody'll miss these two?" One of the voices asked as you were tiptoeing towards your escape route.

"They live on the edge of town, nobody'll even notice," answered another.

"Did you have to be so loud though?"

"They shouldnt've fought so much. Maybe I wouldn'ta had to kill 'em."

"There's one last room to check." You got scared, realizing they meant your room. You climbed out the window and made a break for it.

You started sprinting towards the woods across from your yard. You kept running, propelled by fear. You ran until you couldn't run anymore. Your legs gave out and you just stayed on your knees while catching your breath.

Once the realization of what just happened hit you, what those people were saying and what they meant, you began to cry. You cried and wailed loudly for your parents.

"What's wrong?"

You were surprised by the voice and looked in the direction of it to see a man leaning out from behind a tree. He had short red hair, green eyes and was wearing clothes made out of moss and leaves.

You were hiccuping and crying too much to respond, but you sat back and started crawling backwards and away from him in fear.

He got out from behind the tree and started walking towards you. "Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you, okay? You can trust me, I promise."

Your back hit a tree and he stopped a few feet in front of you. He crouched down to be eye level with you.

"Hey, don't be scared, I'm a friend. I'm a fairy, too. You can trust fairies, right?" Then he got an idea. "Watch this." He waved his hand and a bunny appeared in your lap.

You stopped for a second to look at the bunny. It scampered away and you stared up at the man.

He smiled at you. "See? I promise I won't hurt you, okay?" He reached his hand out towards you and you stayed where you were. You believed this man was a fairy and that he wouldn't hurt you.

The man pulled you into a hug. "Please don't cry, it'll be okay." You found his embrace comforting. It soothed your then hurting heart and the tears stopped flowing from your eyes.

"I'm Alistair, what's your name?"

"(N-Name)," you answered, then sniffed.

"Hello, (Name). I promise I'll look after you for tonight and bring you back in the morning, okay?"

You sniffed again. "...Okay."

Later in life you will decide that trusting Alistair that night was the best decision you ever made.
