(In this one shot, you had been transported to their world.I thought it would be nice to incorporate some of the little things I find joy in. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by the bad stuff that's happening in the world, we forget to appreciate the little moments that make us smile. I hope this reminds you of them.)

"What makes you happy?"

"Being up in the middle of the night just to look up at the sky filled with stars or look up at the sky and admire the bright moon."

Thorin saw stars in your eyes.

He had been seeing them ever since he first saw you. Your eyes always shone bright, especially when you talked about something you loved. And how it melted Thorin's heart to see your eyes twinkle when you look at him with the most loving gaze.

But now, as the two of you walked under a sky filled with stars, he could literally see stars in them. He could see your (eye color) orbs reflect the specks of light coming from the heavens and Thorin could point out constellations in them.

He noticed how wide your eyes were and how you looked up at the sky with such wonder. You never cease to find the beauty in everything. Even if you have seen a sky adorn millions of stars before, you would always look at them as if it was the first time you laid eyes upon it. And that was one of the things Thorin loved about you. Serious and straight to the point was always how Thorin worked. He liked to keep himself busy. But being with you allowed him to look around once in a while. Being with you made him notice the beauty of the world he lived in.

"Watch where you are going, (Y/N)," Thorin scolded. "You'll trip over something if you keep looking up."

"But I can't take my eyes off of them!" you answered, still looking up. "They are so beautiful, Thorin. How I wish the sky is like this back in my world."

"You will have enough time to gaze at them once we reach the field," said Thorin. "Now we will get there faster if you pay attention to where we are going."

Without a second thought, you grabbed Thorin's hand and pulled him along with you as you hurried over rocks and grass. He chuckled at your enthusiasm but his heart swelled with love when he looked at your intertwined hands. When you looked back at him, you raised your eyebrows.

"Is there something wrong?" you asked, then you noticed he was looking at your hand holding his. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I wasn't thinking. I—"

Thorin shook his head and instead of letting you take your hand back, he held it tighter in his. You blushed (and hoped he didn't notice) and averted your gaze.

"I like this," he whispered. This time he was the one pulling you closer to the field, although he did this so you wouldn't be able to see the smile on his face that he could no longer contain.

When you reached the field, Thorin let your hand go and he watched you run to the middle. You wasted no time in reaching out to the stars. Spinning around, you eventually plopped down onto the grass and lay down to watch the sky. Thorin trudged up to where you were and settled himself beside you. He stretched out his arm for you to rest your head on and you happily obliged.

The both of you talked about the funny images you could make while connecting random stars and discussed about how the different races of Middle Earth appreciated them. Thorin grunted unhappily when you spoke of how the elves even hold a Feast for it and you rolled your eyes at his opinion.

When you ran out of words to say, you just gazed up and let yourself be drowned in your thoughts. You focused on the warmth of Thorin and his arm pulling you close to him. Sighing in bliss, you turned to face him with a gentle smile on your lips.

He turned his head to meet your gaze and whispered, "What is it?"

"Let's do this again when you have some free time, okay?"

Thorin chuckled. "I'll set aside some time just for you, (Y/N)."

This little moment did not happen often but whenever it did, it made you happy and it made you look forward for the next ones. It was difficult for Thorin to find a day that he could be free of his duties. And you understood that he was needed so that Erebor could function properly. The both of you waited patiently though, contenting yourself to remember the times when you were able to run to the field again in each other's arms. It made the days bearable.

It made you look forward to something.
