(Requested by anon on Tumblr: Hiii! I love love love your writing!!! Can I please request a father figure!Elrond x human!reader where the reader is sick (nothing life threatening or anything) I’ve just gotten over being sick myself lol. Thank yooooooou the last father figure elrond was so sweet!
Author's Notes: hi anon! Thank you so much for the request and your kind words! I'm really sorry this took so long, I wanted to get this out as soon as I received this to help you feel better even though you were feeling better when you sent this. I hope this still brings some happiness and brings comfort to those who are reading who are feeling sick
Disclaimer: so I wrote that the reader lost her parents to a disease and that's the reason how she came to Elrond and his family. JUST IN CASE and just so you know, I wrote that without even the thought of it being a reference to what the world is facing right now, like JUST IN CASE someone might think it sounds a bit reckless or insensitive of me. Elves are immortal and in my opinion, I think they'd be more worried when it comes to the people they love who are of the Race of Men and I needed a reason why Elrond's children would be much more worried whenever reader is sick.

Elrohir kicked the door open and in he came with pillows in his arms. Behind him was his twin Elladan who also carried countless pillows. Following the two of them was Arwen, looking as lovely as ever (she also carried pillows but she only brought three since her older brothers already took every pillow they could find).
As they paraded into your room, you raised your eyebrows and sat up slowly. Elrond who was sitting on a chair beside your bed saw this and helped you up. After making sure you were settled comfortably, he gestured for his children to bring the pillows near the two of you.
"What is this for?" you asked and you tried your best to talk properly even though you had trouble breathing in through your nose.
"Ada told us to bring pillows," Elrohir answered.
"I did tell you that, but I don't recall telling you to ransack every room along the way and take all the pillows you see," Elrond said.
Elladan shrugged, clearly not minding what they have done and what consequences they might have to face later. "Oh don't worry about it too much. I know where I should return these pillows. These two green pillows are from the love seat on a balcony and these three blue ones are from Erestor's room and—"
"What—You took Erestor's pillows—?"
"—this one is from Lindir's room and—"
Elrond looked at you and Arwen who had already sat down on the other side of the bed. "If Lindir and Erestor come looking for their pillows, tell them I don't have sons named Elladan and Elrohir."
"It was only Elladan who thought of getting other people's pillows without permission," Elrohir chimed in.
"Then I don't have a son named Elladan."
Elladan placed his hand on his chest and dramatically gasped. "How could you? I thought you love me!"
"That does not matter when we talk about Erestor. There is a reason why he is my chief counsellor."
"Because he is smart? you asked.
"That too. But it is mostly because he steers me in the right direction by glaring daggers at me."
Elrond had you move forward a bit so he could stack the pillows against the bed frame. When he was done, he told you to lean against them. The purpose for this was to help you sleep a bit more comfortably. Having your upper body in a slight upright position gave you chances to breathe through your nose. You had been whining about not being able to do so ever since your nasal congestion got worse.
"Are you still feeling cold?" Arwen asked. "Should we get blankets as well?"
"I'n fine." You sniffled. "Just one blanket is enough."
"(Y/N)'s temperature is already quite high. Warming her up even more might make it worse and she might end up dehydrated." Elrond handed you a glass of water and told you to drink. "What is important is to have you drink lots of water."
"Alright. If we have to get all the water in Imladris then we will gladly do so," Elladan joked, but you could see that he was willing to help in any way he can. And you could see that mirrored in Arwen, Elrohir, and Elrond's eyes.
The thought of having such a caring family even though you weren't really related to them by blood warmed your heart. You were just someone from the Race of Men who lost her parents due to a terrible disease and you would have followed them if it weren't for Elladan and Elrohir. They had been passing by when they noticed that the village was eerily silent compared to how lively it always was whenever they took that road. When their eyes landed on you, all alone and in the verge of falling sick (no one could afford to look after you for they were already looking after themselves and their families), they took you back with them to Rivendell and asked Elrond to help.
When they learned that you had already lost your parents, Elrond and his three children took it upon themselves to take care of you.
And they indeed loved you like you were one of their own. So much so that whenever you got sick like this or felt even the smallest amount of pain they were always quick to come to your aid. Sometimes you would think that they were being too worried, like how they were now. Elrond hasn't left your side for days, even going as far as asking Erestor and Lindir to bring his work to your room. Arwen has been entertaining you by bringing books to read to you and talking to you about anything under the sun. The twins would drop by whenever they had free time (they helped in guarding the borders and even went away to chase down orcs—something they had been doing ever since the incident with their mother happened) and they would pamper you in any way they could.
But you knew why they were being like this. It didn't have anything to do with the thought of you being incapable of many things. It had something to do with how much more susceptible you are to diseases and wounds. Elves are immune to diseases and they can survive wounds that could make Men succumb to death.
Men were mortal. There were others who lived longer, but all faced death.
They wanted to be with you for as long as they could. They only had limited time to be with you—a century more or less, and that to Elves is indeed a short amount of time. They didn't want to shorten that. They want to make the most out of it.
Bearing this in mind, you smiled at your family and placed a hand on Arwen's arm, opting to humor your brother. "I don't think Imladris will appreciate all its fountains and rivers and waterfalls running out of water because, well, they're those things because of water! And they bring beauty to this place!"
"Ah, little sister, your presence is far more important than having these bodies of water," Elrohir said. He had also brought some biscuits and cookies from the kitchens and he started munching on them after giving some to you.
"You say that in front of the Lord of Rivendell, the reason behind Imladris being how it is today," you chuckled.
The four of you continued to bicker while Elrond sat there watching and listening to your conversation. You exchanged a handful of wonderful stories and jokes and the room was soon filled with laughter. At some point in the afternoon Erestor and Lindir came running in looking for their pillows but when they learned that they were taken to help you, they happily let you borrow them ("Oh no really I don't need all of them—" "Shhhh, don't say anything lest you want to lose a brother.").
Soon Elrond had to tell the twins and Arwen to go to bed so that you could rest. After kissing your forehead and bidding you goodnight, you were left in the room with Elrond.
"Would you like me to remove some of the pillows?" Elrond asked gently. When you nodded, he began to fix your bed so you could go to sleep comfortably. Once you were settled, he sat on the bed beside you and took your hand.
"Ada, can you tell me a story?" you whispered. It seemed childish but Elrond always had the most wonderful stories and the most soothing voice. You knew it would calm you and help you sleep.
He ran a hand through your hair before caressing your cheek. There was a wistful smile on his lips—one that was loving yet sad. As you looked into his grey eyes, you could not help but think how lucky you were to be considered a child of Elrond.
"Of course."
Elrond leaned against the bed frame with his feet up on the bed as well. With his arm around your shoulders, you leaned against him and waited for him to start speaking.
And so he told you one of the stories from Ages that have passed and you listened intently. It wasn't difficult to imagine or make a picture about what he was talking about for he provided detailed descriptions that helped you build images in your mind. Elrond talked and raised his voice when needed for emphasis, whispered when necessary, and even waved his hand around and made gestures to add more to the story.
You were always eager to hear his stories until the end, but at that time you fell asleep even before he was halfway through (stories from the First Age were quite a feat to tell for they involved lots and LOTS of names and places and events, which to be able to explain, needed lots of back stories).
When Elrond felt your head getting heavier, he stopped talking and looked down at you. With a fond smile, he placed a kiss on your forehead and gently placed your head on the pillows.
"Rest and regain your strength, (Y/N). Imladris is not as bright as it always had been without you walking and running in its halls. Do not worry about anything for Ada will be here, and so will your siblings.
"We still have a lot to look forward to and so much mischief to do. Rest, my child. Ada will stay with you."
