(Author's Notes: I just feel like calling your significant other by their name is also a wonderful thing too you know? Like you call them by their names whenever you show your love or affection for them. Is it weird? I dunno. Just that your name is your identity, part of your identity, and to be able to call someone that is quite endearing, especially after a long time of being so polite to them.)

You looked up and watched the gray clouds cover the blue sky. Thunder rumbled from above. Raindrops started to fall onto the ground and onto your cheeks but you remained standing there.

It started pouring and soon you were soaked to the bone.

You knew it was going to be chore to get your hair out of their braids and to wash the mud on your skirt but all of that was worth this rare time where you get to find peace.

And cry without anyone knowing that you were shedding tears.

Thranduil had been showing Legolas more of the things she had left behind like her journal and her favorite trinkets. When the King showed Legolas a sketch of the late Queen, Legolas smiled and said, "She is beautiful, Ada. But is this how she really looked like?"

"Yes, why would you think this is not how she looked like?"

"You know that some paintings never really capture someone's face. I want to remember this so when we reach the Undying Lands I will be able to know it is her."

Thranduil smiled and caressed the portrait. "It looks exactly like her," he whispered. "(Y/N) made this. She is a great artist. And of course she knew your mother's face. (Y/N) is one of our closest friends."

All of this you heard while standing behind the door. You were supposed to fix Legolas' room at that time but you figured you would leave them be. You knew Thranduil was trying hard to be closer to his son and it made you happy that he took your advice. But hearing this conversation made your heart break a little.

You had spent so much time looking at their faces because you wanted to know that their love was true. If it was, then you would be at peace and you would support them in any way you could. You remembered the day when you did see how much they love each other and you remember telling yourself that you were indeed happy for Thranduil. But you also remember you trying to keep your face from falling and trying to keep your heart whole.

Somehow you did wish that you still had a chance.

This memory brought down your mood and made you think of the past. But you knew you will be alright soon. This was the time to start loving yourself and focusing on your well being. This was also the time to let people in your heart.

In the midst of your crying, footsteps approached you. In the two weeks that they had been here, you have already grown accustomed to the signs that told you he was near.

Maybe, just maybe, this is another chance to find true happiness.

"My lady, are you quite alright?" he asked, like how he asked on the day you first met.

You turned your head to him and offered him a smile. "I am alright, my lord. I apologize for letting you see such a petty sight," you told him, like how you told him on the day you first met.

Haldir walked closer until he was beside you. He didn't return the smile. Instead he reached a hand towards you and cupped your face. Haldir then used his thumb to wipe away the tears running down your cheeks.

Your eyes widened but his gesture made you cry even more. There was no point in hiding it. But you were crying now not because of the pain loving Thranduil brought, but on how nice it felt to have someone notice how you are really feeling without having to tell them.
