(Author's Note: this happy thought was given by thank you so much for the idea! I'm writing this while feeling a bit sick because every dang time I get my braces adjusted which causes for my teeth to hurt, I just feel like I'm going to have a fever hnnghhh and I can't evEN ENJOY MY KFC BECAUSE I CAN'T EAT BECAUSE MY TEETH HURT

*clears throat* so that is why this is kind of short and not well thought of. I hope it still gets my point across. Cliché as it sounds, the sun never fails to rise after the night has passed. The sun never fails to show itself after a storm or a cloudy day. No matter how long the darkness and the bad days stay, you can still look forward to finding hope and sunshine.

I thought it would be nice to incorporate some of the little things I find joy in. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by the bad stuff that's happening in the world, we forget to appreciate the little moments that make us smile. I hope this reminds you of them.)

"What makes you happy?"

"When you wipe away the tears of someone dear to you, kiss their forehead, and see them genuinely smile. Even though you know there's still a lot they need to heal from, you feel relieved and happy you were able to make them feel happy if only for a moment. And you know you will continue to do that, until they are ready to face the world again."

With sad eyes you watched the hunched figure sitting on the edge of the bed. His shoulders move, telling you that he had been crying and he was trying to suppress his sobs. Shaky breaths escaped his lips and every exhale sounded like silent pleas of help to you.

You had given him space because you knew he needed it.

But you've always known how he hid his grief in the day and removed his mask in the night.

He couldn't afford to break down in front everyone. Not now when King Theoden is gone. Not now when his sister Eowyn is healing. Not now when they are going to their third battle, a battle that can be their last. Everyone in Rohan looked up to him now for guidance. He needed to be strong.

But the strongest are those who carry the heaviest burdens.

You could no longer stand there and keep your distance. You padded your way across the room and towards where he sat. Gently placing an arm on his shoulder, you took a seat beside him.

"Eomer, my love," you whispered.

He quickly sat up straight, looking away to try and hide his tears. But you shook your head and placed a hand on his cheek.

"There is no need to hide these tears from me," you said. "No need to stop them, no need to deny them. You have the right to grieve."

He pursed his lips. "I am afraid you will think less of me," Eomer admitted.

You wiped away his tears and kissed his forehead. "You fear the wrong thing for I will never think less of you. These tears show that you have endured so much, that your heart is still in the right place. Tears do not make you weak. They make you stronger for every tear you shed is a step closer to feeling better and seeing brighter days."

Despite the ache still in his heart from all the loss he had attained, Eomer could not help but let a small smile appear on his lips. Your presence there gave him warmth. Crying in the dark on his own felt like he was drowning. But now that you were there, he felt like he was still lost in the middle of the sea, but at least he was on a boat under the blue sky and he knew there would be land in sight.

Wrapping his arms around you, Eomer leaned his head against your chest and started to let the tears fall once more. You pulled him close to you, tucking his head under your chin. Your hand gently ran through his locks and your lips pressed soft kisses on this temple and forehead.

Soon his sobs faded and he was left exhausted and sleepy. You whispered to him to go to sleep, and that you would stay with him until the morning. Before Eomer let sleep take him, he sighed and muttered, "I am afraid to take on the responsibilities on my own."

You smiled and answered, "You are not alone, Eomer. You are never alone. Those whom you love and those who love you back will be with you. I will always stand by you."

This little moment did not come often but when they did, they were some of the darkest of times. To tell the truth, you hoped that these moments would never plague you and Eomer. But life without sadness is never a fulfilling one and so in those times, you both always tried to look for the light. And when you do find it, you are blessed with happiness and a glimmer of hope. Looking back at the times you went through all those troubles and pain made you stronger and more appreciative of how far you've reached and how much you've achieved. Experiencing these things made you more courageous and made the days and years to come more bearable.

It made you look forward to the happier days you await.

It made life more interesting and worth living.
