(Okay so I know Frodo was born 20+ years after the Quest. Let's say Frodo was like 5 here. I looked up and saw that he lost his parents when he was like 12?? So here in this oneshot he's just visiting Bilbo and stuff. Let's stretch things out here wkflwkcke hope you enjoy!)

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)!"

You nearly dropped the plate you were placing in the cabinet when a childish voice came shouting from outside your door. Gently you put the plate on the table and hurried over to the door to see who it was. A series of knocks and more shouting came and you chuckled because you now recognize whose voice it belonged.

"Frodo, what are you doing here?" you asked as you let the young hobbit enter your home. He immediately latched onto your arm and tried to pull you outside. "Wait, Frodo! What's the matter?"

"It's Bilbo, (Y/N)!" he answered. "You must help him!"

"Why? What happened?" you said, eyebrows knitting together in worry.

After you asked that question, Frodo stopped pulling on your arm and hung his head. There was a pout on his lips. You sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"He's been sad all day, (Y/N)," Frodo said. "I know he's trying to hide it. But he's been silent all day long and he politely refused to tell me more stories. I didn't know what to do so I asked him how I could help. He said I could try and find some sunshine."

You smiled sadly at Frodo and ran a hand through his curls. You knew why Bilbo was like that. Every year on a particular day, Bilbo would sit in a corner in silence. Sometimes he would look at a certain map and a certain sword. You knew he missed the adventure. You knew he yearned for the world outside the Shire.

You knew he mourned for those he lost.

That you knew, but you didn't know how to help Frodo. You knew the young Hobbit was here to visit Bilbo with his parents. Why come to you? Maybe they also didn't know how to help? Bilbo sometimes spewed things that didn't make sense. It has been raining ever since this morning. Hobbits loved the rain because it helped the plants grow but it also dampened the spirits of some. The sun was hiding behind dark gray clouds.

"Frodo, why did you come here though?" you asked the young hobbit. "What about your parents? Have you asked them what can help?

He looked up at you and pouted. "They're currently visiting a neighbor." Frodo sighed. "Well, I always feel happy whenever you are around. I thought if I bring you to Bilbo he would be happy too!"

It was quite difficult to not squeal at how cute Frodo was and how adorable he thought of you, even though he was quite the troublemaker when he came to visit. Instead you settled with a hug and a promise that you would come with him to help in any way you can. But truth be told, you didn't know how your presence would help. Sure, you like Bilbo. You've admired him ever since you both were young. But you always kept that a secret. You didn't know what he felt about you and decided to just stay friends because you feared he would drift away if you confessed.

You lifted Frodo up in your arms and you made your way to Bilbo's house while Frodo held the umbrella over the both of you. When you arrived, Frodo opened the door for you and quickly ran inside to see where Bilbo was. As you were cleaning up your wet feet, Frodo came back and told you Bilbo was sleeping.

You were worried that Bilbo might have also gotten sick so you quietly walked to Bilbo's room. There you saw him sleeping peacefully. You sat down beside him on the bed and put a hand over his forehead. When you felt that his temperature was normal, you sighed in relief. You were about to get up and go to the kitchen when Bilbo grunted and opened his eyes.

You let yourself smile as you looked down at him. "Hello, Bilbo."

He blinked and sat up immediately when he recognized you. Bilbo frantically ran a hand through his hair. "(Y/N)! What are you doing here?" he asked. "Goodness, I look like a mess."

"Don't worry about it. You look fantastic as always," you said, chuckling at his attempts to fix his hair. You reached out and tried to help him. When he gaped at you, you blushed and put your hand down. "Well, Frodo came to my house and told me you were feeling upset. You told him he could help by looking for sunshine. And, umm, he thought that he would bring me to try and help."

Your words took Bilbo some time to register. But when he understood, Bilbo groaned and plopped down on his bed again. This time he turned his back to you and buried himself under the covers.

"Frodo, I told you to look for some sunshine!" he grunted.

You hung your head at his words, disappointed that you couldn't help him and that your presence wasn't enough to make him feel a little bit better. But just as you were about to get up and leave, Bilbo said,

"Instead you brought the sun!"
