(In this oneshot, you were transported to Middle Earth. This takes place a few years after the Quest of Erebor. I'm kind of following the book as well. So Legolas does not leave Mirkwood.)

"Huh, well what do you know?" you mused, taking something out of your bag. This bag was the bag that was with you when you fell into this world. It contained some clothes and other essentials and other things that you hold dear.

"What is it, (Y/N)?" Legolas asked, looking at you and stopping what he was doing. He was currently cleaning his swords and his bow. Why he was doing it in your room, you didn't know. Maybe your dear friend just wanted to hang out with you.

You held up a stack of neon-colored square papers. "They decided to put in my bag my sticky notes." Shaking your head, you continued to go through your bag.

While sticky notes seemed a little bit weird for you, Legolas was quite curious. Perhaps the bright colors were a factor but the sticky notes made him stand and walk over to you. You watched with an amused expression as he took it and looked at it with curious eyes.

"Why are they so bright? And what is their purpose?" he said, looking at you while still holding up the sticky notes.

"Well," you said as he sat down beside you, "I'm not sure why but I think the bright colors are meant to catch your eyes so that you'd look at them. And that's useful because sticky notes are meant for you to write notes on. These notes are things that you need to remember because they're really important. Like if you have to do something at this specific time or if you have to meet someone."

Legolas took a sheet and regarded it with knitted eyebrows. "And I assume it is called sticky notes because one of the sides has an adhesive strip."

You nodded. "It's so you could stick it on a surface. You could stick it on your wall or your books or your notes or on your cabinets. It makes it easier for you to see. If you stick it onto a place where you'd most likely see it, you'll have the urge to read. When you read it, you'll be reminded."

"That is very useful. Your people are very innovative." Legolas smiled at you with wide, innocent eyes. "If you're not going to use these, may I have it?"

You chuckled. "Of course. But what would you need it for? You seem to remember everything."

"Sometimes, I forget some things."

With that, he pocketed the sticky notes and continued what he was doing earlier. That was the last time you saw it. There were times you wondered what he used them for but these thoughts were quickly removed from your mind as you didn't think it was important (well, you had a crush on the elf, so of course everything about him was important but sticky notes?).

But they became something you were fond of when you decided to visit Legolas' room.

You wanted to ask him if he could teach you how to fight with a sword. You had been planning on learning how to fight so you'd be able to defend yourself. You landed in Middle Earth a few decades before the events in the Lord of the Rings happened and you knew you needed to prepare yourself for any kind of trouble that will come.

When you knocked on the door, Legolas let you in. He told you to make yourself at home while he got ready after you told him your request. As he disappeared into another room to get ready, something bright caught your eye.

On the back of the door, behind Legolas' cloak that was hanging on a hook, was a neon green sticky note. You couldn't fight off your curiosity so you pushed the cloak aside to see what Legolas had written. You thought there was only one note on the door, but there were three. You decided to read all of them.

The first note read:

Don't forget your bows and arrows.

And also your swords.

You chuckled at how adorable Legolas was. You were sure Legolas never forgot his weapons. Maybe he was just testing the sticky notes? Maybe he didn't know what to write? As you continued to wonder, your eyes moved to the second note.

Blood rushed to your cheeks.

Try to Make (Y/N) smile today.

Your heart skipped a beat and you tried to calm yourself down. But when you read the third note, you forgot how to breathe.

Tell (Y/N) that you love her.

Attempts: IIIII-IIIII-IIIII-IIIII-IIIII-IIIII

"(Y/N)?"

You jumped, startled at the sudden voice that called your name. Turning around, you saw Legolas with his weapons already on his back. He was looking quite happy but when he noticed that you had just removed your hand off the cloak, his smile disappeared and he suddenly looked nervous.

"You... You read them?" Legolas asked.

Averting your gaze, you nodded and fiddled with the hems of your tunic. "I... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry. The color caught my attention and-and—"

"I love you."

You stopped talking and gaped at him. You weren't sure if you heard him correctly and you were about to ask what he said when Legolas repeated, "I love you."

Your cheeks grew very warm and his eyes were filled with honesty and love and nervousness that you had to look away. But you couldn't hide from him the smile that worked its way to your lips and when he saw them, all doubts left his mind.

So he said those three words again, the three words that he tried to say for 30 days but failed to because he feared you didn't love him back. And he kept saying them as he walked closer to you and he kept saying them just to watch your smile grow bigger and he kept saying them until you met his eyes and he saw the same amount of love in them.

"I love you," he whispered one last time.

And you whispered back, "I love you too," before he leaned in to capture your lips.

The next day, the sticky note that reminded him of his failed attempts was thrown away and replaced with a neon green note that held the words:

Remind (Y/N) every single day that you love her.

(because she doesn't have sticky notes)
