For a whole week, you and Thranduil avoided each other at all costs. You rarely left your room except when fetched to eat meals or when Legolas tried to keep you active by walking with you in the early mornings. Thranduil had no problem hiding his face from you—he was already busy with other things and being King.

It made you sad and you even thought of approaching Thranduil to apologize to him. After all, it was your fault for leaving the caves without permission. You were warned that the forest was dangerous but you didn't listen.

But as you spent your days alone in your room, you thought it was better for Thranduil to remain angry at you. It would be easier that way.

The night you walked back to your room after that incident with Thranduil, you felt a slight tingle in your hands. When you checked to see if you had any injuries, you were surprised by the image of translucent hands. Before you had the time to panic, your hands were back to normal.

Since then it had been a normal occurrence for you and you were left waiting for your time to go home. At first it was just your hands that were starting to fade. Your arms followed and then your feet and then your legs. By the time your tattoo held the word 'Six', your whole body was starting to become translucent.

You had just woken up and you were about to get ready for the day when you noticed that you were fading again. You held up your hand towards the windows and for a moment you admired how the sunlight passed through your skin.

In your moment of awe, you forgot that you were usually fetched by someone for breakfast at this time. And you had no idea that it would be Legolas who'd be coming to your room that day. Legolas would usually knock and open your door without even waiting for a response (he was that comfortable with you).

And that was what he did.

"(Y/N), I came to escort you to the dining hall and—"

Legolas stopped, the smile on his face rapidly disappearing as he saw you standing there in your translucent form. His eyes widened and he nearly shouted as Legolas scrambled towards you. But you put a finger against your lips and shook your head. That didn't stop him from trying to reach out to you though.

It was with great relief when his hands could touch you and hold your arms.

"What... Why?" he asked. Legolas couldn't find the right words to ask.

You smiled sadly at him and gestured for him to sit down. You took a seat beside him and pulled up your sleeve. Legolas' eyebrows met and you knew he couldn't understand the word on your arm. So gently you told him what the word was and what it meant. As you explained, his expression changed from confused to shocked to sad, and when you were done, he was left bowing his head to hide his emotions.

He knew you wanted to go back home and he knew that there was a chance you'd never stay here forever. But he was going to lose a friend, and you were going to go home without even patching things up with his father. If you had more time, Legolas knew you and Thranduil could make things right and you both could have a happy relationship.

But looking at that tattoo that just changed to 'Five', Legolas didn't know what to do.

"Can I tell you something Legolas?" you muttered. When he looked at you, you continued to speak. "When you told me that you were all immortal, I was quite sad. At that moment, I was quite selfish. You and everyone here have been very kind to me and in my short stay here, I have found friends. But the thought of everyone forgetting I even once existed here crossed my mind. You live for thousands of years. I live barely a century. I could bring this memory of Mirkwood to my grave but you could all forget me as you wait for the world to end."
