Since my night out, Joe and I have been arguing like crazy over anything and everything. Our arguments got so bad that I bought Galina a flight ticket so that she could pick up Joelle which only angered Joe.

"For fuck sakes Joe, you are behaving like an asshole." I glare at him as I start walking up the stairs with Thomas in my arms. "After that one night out, you have been on my ass."

"You need to start respecting me more." He responds in a dark tone which has me looking back at him. "I mean it."

"Screw you

"Screw you." I'm about halfway up the stairs when Joe grabs my arm. "I'm holding Thomas, let go of me."

"Not until we talk."

"JOE!" I yell and that wakes up a sleeping Thomas who starts bawling his eyes out. "Let go of me or so help me God."

Only God knows that the hell is going on with this man and for the first time, I am starting to become fearful of this man. Surely there must be something else going on with him because there is no way in hell that me having a night out has made him become like this.

Parts of me wishes that I never went out because the way Joe has been behaving is making me rethink our future together. I am very close to handing him his ring back.

"Give him to me." Joe suddenly changes his tone. "Tamati wants to be with his father so hand him over."

"No." I narrow my eyes at him. "I'm taking him upstairs to bed to join his brother."

"Iosefa and Tamati are coming with me." Joe tries snatching Thomas out of my hands and I place my hand on the banister to stabilize myself.

"Joe you are not touching my children especially when you're acting like this." I hiss as I hold tightly onto my son who is still crying.

"Oh so now he is your son." Joe sneers at me and I gasp at his tone. I let go of the banister to pull my phone out of my pocket so that I can call my mom because Joe is acting crazy. "Who are you calling?"

"None of your fucking business." I reply as I hastily unlock my phone. Just as I tap the call logs, I hear a knock on the door and I look back in surprise.

Who the hell can be knocking at this time?

"That's enough of that." Joe uses my moment of distraction to snatch the phone out of my hand. He uses such force that I end up losing balance.

I let out a shriek as I fall flat of my bum before sliding down three steps. My shriek is followed by a huge gasp as I stare at my son who is staring back at me, shock is plastered on both of our faces.

No words leave my lips as silence falls between us.

"I'll get the door." Joe grunts as he runs down the remaining steps. I stay sitting on the steps with Thomas who is awfully silent so I run my hand through his hair before pressing a kiss to his lips.

I hear the front door open before I hear a woman speak.

"Did you get the kids yet?"

I listen to Joe's response.

"I'm having issues with Amerie at the moment." He gruffly responds.

"Look Joe, I left Joelle alone at the hotel and I don't want to waste any time." I gasp as I recognise the sound of Galina's voice. "Is Amerie here?"

I cover Thomas' mouth as I quietly stand up before quickly making my way up the stairs. I hurriedly make my way into my bedroom where Joseph is fast asleep in his cot and I scope him up before making my way out of the room.

Thankfully Thomas stays quiet as I run to the other side of the house with both kids in my arms. I settle on heading to a guest room where I set both boys down on the bed before locking the door. I grab one of the chairs before pushing it up against the door as I hear Joe yelling.

I lay on the bed and I pull my children to me as the yelling increases.

"It's ok." I look down at Thomas who is silently staring at my face. "I'm so sorry for falling, I should have been stronger."

Thomas lays his head flat on my chest as I fight back tears.

"Mommy will be stronger."

The next morning I wake up to the sound of someone knocking on the door. I look down at Thomas who is sleeping soundly on my chest before looking at Joseph who is sleeping besides me.

"Amerie, it's Trinity."

I slowly pick Thomas up before placing him besides his twin who he instantly cuddles. I create a makeshift barrier with the pillows on the sides of the bed.

"Amerie?" Trinity knocks again and I sigh as I make my way to the door.

"Yes." My voice comes out small as I refrain from unlocking the door. Instead I rest my head against it.

"Can you let me in?"

I shake my head, "No. Joe is going to hurt me again."

"Hu- Hurt you?" I hear her gasp. "Amerie, I promise you that Joe is not here. He called me to come over while he went to work, he told me that you locked yourself in there with the kids."

I stay silent as I listen up for any movements. When I don't hear anyone, I move the chair out of the way before I slowly unlock the door.

Once Trinity enters the room, I lock the door ahead of throwing my arms around her as the tears begin to spill from my eyes.

"What is going on?" She softly asks as she rubs my back.

I recall all the events that took place and Trinity can't even hide the shock that covers her face.

"Shit Amerie." Trinity lets out a small sigh. "I don't even know what to say."

"Neither do I."
