I walked into my mom's house, and it smelled so good.
I felt good to finally smell a home cooked meal.
The shelter food was so nasty.
"Momma ?" I called around the house as I slowly walked through it.
A girl was sitting on the couch watching tv.
She scared me.
"Oh, hi !" She smiled at me then stood up.
"I'm Ava, you must be Storm ! Nice to meet you."
I gave her a fake smile, "um, where is my mom?" I asked.
"Upstairs. I'm sure she's coming down because she is cooking."
Charles came running down the stairs, "Aye Ava!"
He stopped when he saw me.
His face expression changed.
"Oh, what's up...Storm."
I rolled my eyes.
"Long time no see." He said looking at my stomach.
"Did you get that money I sent you ?"
I ignored him, "So Ava ...after dinner you want to go to my house ?"
"Oh, you have your own crib ?" She asked.
I nodded.
Charles looked shocked.
"Can I daddy ?" Ava asked him smiling.
"We will see." He told her dryly.
I gave him a smirk and sat at the table.
"I'm starving momma ! Let's eat!" I yelled out to her.
She came running down the stairs, "Oh baby you are here!"
She hugged me from behind.
"Nice to see you to momma."
Charles started to set the table, "So, Storm has her own place."
He told my mom sounding upset.
"Really ?" My momma looked at me for a answer.
"Yeah I do..a shelter helped me get it."
"Really ? Usually shelters give homes to people with babies."
I nodded.
"You have a baby ?" Ava asked sitting across from me.
I looked at Charles and smiled , "Not yet."
Charles started coughing.
"You ok babe ?" My mom asked him walking over to him and tapping his back.
"Yeah, I just need water."
Charles went over to the sink and filled a glass up with tap water.
"So , you didn't get rid of the baby ?" My mom asked me concerned.
"Nope..and I have my own place now so can't nobody tell me I can't have my child."
My mom sighed and then got up to start putting food on the table.
"Congrats!" Ava said to me with a big smile.
"Thanks!" I said looking up at Charles.
