The table was quite as we all ate.
All you could hear is the sounds of the silverware hitting the plates.
The food was so good though.
It felt like it's been years since I've eatting a home cooked meal.
I was scarfing it down.
"Slow down pregnant lady." Ava giggled to me.
"Sorry..." I wiped my face off with a napkin, "I'm so hungry."
My mom dropped her fork onto her almost empty plate , " I know that steak and rice is your favorite so I had Charles help me prepare it."
I smiled , "Thanks you guys." I said picking up my cup of lemonade to drink it.
Charles looked so uncomfortable at the table.
He was eatting super slow.
It was almost like he was playing with his food.
"Are you ok daddy ?" Ava asked then burped.
"Table manners Ava." Charles said to her dry.
"Yeah, are you ok Charles?" My mom asked him.
I shook my head.
"Yeah , I'm ok.." he said leaning in his chair.
"Yeah, you look worried." Ava said giggling.
My phone started ringing.
"Please answer that later Storm..we need to talk." My mom said looking deep into my eyes.
It was Chuck calling.
I sighed and ignored it.
"Ok..what?" I asked with a attitude.
"Ava,.let's go upstairs and watch a movie." Charles stood up.
After they left my mom sat closer to me.
"I'm sorry for how I was acting before you left. I was stressed and going through a lot."
I nodded as she spoke.
"I was sad about my job and my bills..then I had to hear my little girl, my smart only child, was pregnant."
I nodded again.
My eyes began to get watery.
"You had your whole life ahead of you..and you were pregnant... I didn't know how to control my emotions on things."
I hugged my mother so tight.
She continued.
"Then , I kept having my baby on my mind that I got rid of...I really wanted my child but Charles wasn't ready...!"
I held her tighter.
"You had a chance to keep you child ! I'm happy you did ! I'll help you with your child while you go to school."
I burst out crying harder.
"If that daddy doesn't want to help Storm..I will."
My momma said wiping my tears.
