I woke up and we were at a diner.
I was starving.
"We are about a hour away." Landen told me getting out the car.
I grabbed Zeek out the back seat and followed Landen inside.

We were the only black people there.

We sat down at a table and went through the menu.
Landen's phone kept going off.
"So many people been calling and texting me about what happened. We really got famous over night." He said smiling.
I gave him a fake smile.
"I'll grab a salad." I said changing the subject.
"Some Apple sauce for Zeek." I added.
My phone started ringing and texts were flowing in.
"Your on the news ! Your a Hero!" My aunt said in a text.
I rolled my eyes and flipped my phone over.
A fat ,white, old lady walked up to our table, "What can I get you guys?" He had a note pad and a pen.
"I'll have the steak and egg meal with a coffee." Landen told her.
" The garlic salad and a water, a side of apple sauce." I added.
As she was writing in her note pad, she looked up and gasped, "Wait..I know you guys!" She said smiling, "The Ohio Hero's! Oh my gosh!"
I was getting so irritated.
"That's us." Landen said laughing.
"Stop entertaining this shit!" I told Landen.
"The meal is on the house!" She said clapping, "Y'all deserve a free meal!" She said with a heavy country accent.
I smacked the table, "I'm not even hungry anymore!"
Landen looked confused, "Are you really upset because people think that we are hero's ?"
I sighed hard, grabbed Zeek's car seat, and headed out towards the exit, "Pop the lock Landen." I demanded.

I sat in the car with my head against the window until Landen came out.
He had a big bag full of food.
"I took it to go." He said dryly then started the car.
"Did you break up with Candy because of me?" I asked sadly.
He looked at me weird, "What ?"
I started to cry, "My momma, really got me...thinking."
He drove off onto the E-way, "Not at all Storm..."
I looked at him, "Well, maybe just a little."
I rolled my eyes then folded my arms, "I'm a home reckor.. I knew it."
"I just didn't like the way she been treating you! I should of never fired you because of her. I knew how much you needed the job."
I stared at his beautiful eyes while he talked.
"What did your momma actually say to you?" Landen asked confused.
I shook my head and sighed, "Forget it."
