Carter's POV

I sat between Ryder and Liam tensely while Callum kept glancing over at me whenever he thought I wasn't looking.

Some random movie was playing but I wasn't really paying attention. I was too busy trying not to move, or be too awkward, while also trying to force myself to stay calm.

You need to calm down. Callum keeps looking at you, he knows something is wrong. If you don't calm down he's going to start prying.

'I distinctly remember you being just as tense when you first starting dating them.'

Jax only huffed as he leaned back against the couch.

"You seem tense," Callum said after a few more minutes of glancing.

"I'm always tense," I try to brush off, my eyes going to the T.V for the first time since I got here.

"No," Liam said gently as he also watched the movie. "Jax is always tense. You tend to be a lot more relaxed than him."

"You are all too observant," I grumbled but don't acknowledge what they were actually talking about.

"Did something happen at the session," Ryder asked hesitantly.

"Kind of, more to Jax than to me."

"Then what's wrong," Callum said skeptically.

"This feels weird," I say after a while.

"In a good or bad way," Ryder asked.

"I can't decide."

"Do you want us scoot back to Liam's side," Ryder asked, already starting to move closer to Callum.

"No," I said quickly but I don't make a move to make him come back. Luckily, I don't need to make him come back. As soon as the word left my mouth he was moving back. Our shoulders are touching now even though they weren't before. "I'm just not used to it," I say after a Ryder is finished moving.

"I'm sure it will take some time," Liam said as he leaned back again. "Jax didn't exactly like cuddling when we first started dating either."

"It's not like we don't have time," I sigh as I leaned huddled against the headboard. I tried to pull the covers up but Liam was laying on it, making it way too hard to pull it without disrupting him. As to why Liam was on my side of the bed and not his, I have no idea.

"Are you cold?" He asked when he noticed what I was trying to do.

"A little bit," I admit, still trying to pull the blanket.

Callum moved from Liam's side, catching my attention. I watch him as he moves to his dresser before pulling out a black hoodie and throwing it at me with a smirk.

I catch it without much effort, making Ryder frown for some reason.

"I hate how athletic you are," he mumbled jokingly.

"Is this for me," I asked while looking back at Callum, who was settling back onto the bed.

"Well it's not for Liam," he joked with a small smirk.

I couldn't help but give a small smile as I pulled the hoodie over my head. The smile didn't leave as I pulled the neckline up to my lips, trying at least some what hide the smile that I couldn't force off of my face.

"It smells nice," I admit, making a bigger smirk cross Callum's face.

"It smells like me I'm assuming so I'll take that as a complement."

"Callum does smell good," Ryder says with a smile.

"I don't like the way you said that."

The two move onto their own conversation about how creepy the statement did or did not sound.

"You look overly comfortable," Liam noted, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I'm warm now."

"Are you always this cold or do you have a fever?"

"I'm always cold, which sucks because Jax tends to stay hot so he always dress to accommodate so I always get cold when I front." Liam only hummed, making our side settle back into silence. Ryder and Callum are still going on but I think it's about something else now.

"What happened at the session," Liam asked after a few more minutes.

'Can I tell him?'

I guess. I'll have to tell him eventually anyway.

"Andrew said our body is getting too thin. He's going to make sure we focus on it more," I say making Liam tense for a second before forcing himself to calm down again. "He then said that I wouldn't be there every time Jax needed me. That made me mad."

"He doesn't have a very good way with words."

"I've noticed."

"Do you guys have a plan for this?"

"Not one that we've talked about at least but I'm assuming that I'll be eating the majority of our meals for a while until Andrew makes a break through with Jax."

But you don't like my friends. How do you expect to sit there and eat with them?

'I'll figure it out.'

"I think that could work," Liam said after he mauled it over.

"I hope it does."

"Then why are you still tense?"

I hadn't even noticed that I had clenched my jaw again or that I my nails were stabbing my thumb pads. Liam was already starting to learn my tells and I didn't love it. He was far too observant.

Rather than try to lie my way out of it, I sigh as I drop my head onto Liam's shoulder.

"I don't like his friends. They freak me out and put me on edge. I don't want to have to deal with them three times a day, even if Jax can just front right after I'm done."

Liam frowned as he thought of a way to fix it.

"I don't think we can eat in here every day without them noticing," he said after a while. "The only thing I can think is trying to get there early and eating before anyone else gets there and then switch out with Jax."

"That could work I guess," I say but I still don't love that idea. I don't want to have to keep switching with Jax this often.

It didn't really hurt to front back and forth but it was tiring and it can make it harder to focus some times, which isn't helpful during class.

"Maybe it won't be for long," Liam said as he slowly brought his hand up to pet my hair. "Hopefully Jax and Andrew will have it under control soon."

"Maybe," I agree but I knew better.

Problems like this took time. You don't just magically get over an eating disorder in a day, especially one that was brought on by abuse.

"If it makes you feel any better, we'll be there the whole time for you."

"It doesn't," I say honestly, making Liam frown. "But I still appreciate it."

We're going to be okay.

'I know. We just need some time.'
