Your humanity is growing in you, isn't it? All because of Sammy... Why?

Ever since Sam Winchester saved Dean Winchester and Karina Leone from Gordon Walker, that quote had been in Karina's head for quite some time. Sure, she acted differently between Winchesters and her opposed enemies. But the one thing that was sure getting to her skin was all the arrows on the little brother of the Winchesters... she had no clue why though...

While Dean was getting coffee for three and french toast and sausages for Karina, she had been focusing on her book lately since it was taking her mind off Sam. The Shining by Stephen King.

It's hard for now since she was yards away from him on Dean's bed. He had been calling Ellen for any updates about Ava since she had disappeared, he was getting worried about her. Because he made a promise. On every page she turned, her eyes were on Sam's back looking out for him.

All her thoughts were interrupted as soon Dean entered the room, carrying three cups of coffee and a bag for Karina's food. Sam hung up on the call before he replied, "Yeah, okay. Thanks, Ellen."

"What'd she have to say?"

"Oh, she's got nothing. I've been checking every database I can think of-- federal, state, and local. No one's heard anything about Ava, she just... into thin air, you know?' Dean shared a glance with Karina, sharing the same thought as he walked to Sam giving him his coffee. "What about you?"

"No, same as before. Sorry, man."

Dean answered softly as he looked over the research that Sam did on the desk. Clearly, Sam didn't have much sleep due to his bags of eyes. Dean set down Karian's coffee and her food on the desk as he opened his coffee cap before Sam mentioned one thing to Dean and Karina.

"Ellen did have one thing. A hotel in Cornwall, Connecticut-- two freak accidents in the past three weeks."

Dean grabbed supplies off the desk as he walked over to Karina for her drink and food, "Yeah, what's that to do with Ava?"

Karina set down her book since she memorized the page she left off as she began sorting her food and drink while on Dean's bed.  Dean was removing his jacket, listening to Sam's answer.

"It's a job. I mean, a lady drowned in the bathtub... Then a few days ago, a guy falls down the stairs, head turns a complete 180,  which isn't exactly normal, you know?"

Karina struggled with her shoulders as she put maple syrup on the toast along with the sausages, "I don't know, maybe the guy is a hybrid of human/owl..."

Dean snickered as Sam looked seriously at Karina, not responding to her side comment. "I don't know-- it might be nothing, but I told Ellen we'd think about checking it out."

"You did?" Dean asked surprised as he sat down on the side of the bed with Karina.

"Yeah." Sam shook his head from his brother's face, "You seem surprised."

"Well yeah, it's just, you know... Not the patented Sam Winchester way, is it?"

"What way is that?"

"Just figured after Ava, there'd be, you know... more angst and droopy music and staring out the rainy windows.'

Karina smiled a little after Dean's blunt response to Sam, imagining his face according to Dean's reply. She sat back and began eating her breakfast while the silence was deafening.

Dean followed along with Karina with his coffee, sitting beside her. "I'll shut up now."

Sam stood up walking toward his bed as he explained to them. "Look, I'm the one who told her to go back home. Now her fiance's dead and some demon has taken her off to God knows where... you know? But we've been looking for a month now, and we got nothing. So I'm not giving up on her, but I'm not going to let other people die either. We've got to save as many people as we can."
