"This is Mark Grey, Manhattan's district attorney, I'm in charge of Mason Castillo's case. I would like to know if we could meet up to make you some questions regarding your past relationship with the defendant."

"No, no no no," I whisper to myself.

"Miss Rodríguez?" The man on the other side of the phone calls for me with a confused tone.

"Mia, what's wrong?" My dad walks closer noticing something must have happened.

I'm frozen on the spot, my mind blank and my arm falling lifeless down my side causing the phone to slip out of my hand and crash against the floor.

I can't do this, I can't. Not now, why does it have to be now? Why can't they leave me alone? I don't deserve this, I don't.

"Who are you? Why are you calling this number?" I don't even notice my father rescuing my phone until he speaks.

I might not be able to hear what the man is saying but I know for sure he is repeating the same words he just told me. And even if I wasn't, my father's face changing to one of pure shock would be enough to prove it.

"You are not calling at a good moment I'm sorry." He speaks again and then waits, probably hearing out the man. "I will let you know when she makes the decision, we will call. Don't contact this number till then please." My father adds clearly before hanging up and coming my way.

Still in the same position I was a few minutes ago, I stare as he gets closer. He looks at me as if I'm a lost baby dear in a dark forest and he is a hunter bearing the gun that would kill me. But this time the gun is words, words I don't wanna hear but I know he will say.

"Mia... I know you don't feel like you could do it right now but I think you should think about it before coming to a decision." He approaches me carefully hoping I don't run. "This could give you the closure you need honey, you could help them get Mason behind bars, where he should be."

Looking directly at him I can't believe he is choosing to do this now. I knew he had always wanted me to press charges against Mason, he had asked me to do it before but I didn't think he would ask me now... not when I'm on the verge of a breakdown. Not when I need my daddy more than anything.

"Mia, honey, I know it's difficult but maybe if you hear him out. It would be just a meeting, answer some questions." He keeps trying.

"No," I mutter to myself, shaking my head and still not moving.

"He explained that if you want to he could-"

"Shut up, god please shut up!" I shout surprising both my dad and me. "I don't wanna hear it, this is not what I need right now. Stop talking, stop..." Now I finally move, I crumble to the floor like a house of cards.

"Oh, no honey. I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He kneels next to me hugging me as my tears fall down my face without any restraint.

"Leave me alone, please... I need a moment alone." I whisper breaking free of his embrace.
