Two weeks later

Since the day at the rooftop neither one of us has talked about the topic hanging tensely in the air. We have been acting as if nothing has happened, as if what Carlos is about to get into isn't more than a day-to-day activity.

That night I texted Danielle and told her that I tried but that it wasn't looking good, Carlos' mind was made up. Though thankfully even if this matter has consumed most of my thoughts and probably his too we could still act natural and kept going with our lives as usual.

At this point I have practically moved to Carlos' room, I don't know when or how it happened it just did and it feels weird to sleep on my own now. Sometimes I have the urge to ask him what is exactly we are doing if we are together or... I don't even know. We never really discussed it and even though I'm pretty sure we are both on the same page (or at least I hope so) I never ask because when I think I'm ready no words come out. I fear he might say something I won't like. What if he hasn't fallen for me as hard as I have fallen for him? What if he doesn't like me as much as I like him? God, I really need to stop overthinking, of course, he likes me, he literally begged me to come back to him.

And I have more important matters to focus on, especially today.

"Mia? You ready?" Carlos appears at my door while I finish fixing my hair up in a high ponytail.

He is wearing a suit, a navy blue suit. With no tie and a white dress shirt underneath it. The first two buttons are open giving me a view of his tan chest and I wish I could just rip it off him and stay here with him all day.

"Almost." I look at him with my best attempt at a confident smile.

Today I'm meeting the prosecutor that's going against Mason. I called him a few days ago and he told me to meet him at his office today. I told Carlos and as he promised he said he will come with me. I thought I was ready but I'm not sure anymore.

"Hey, it's going to be okay. If you want out we will just leave. You don't have to do this if you don't want to." Suddenly he is right behind me. His hand resting on my hip.

Hunter came by a few times already and showed Carlos everything he needed to know about the prosthetics. He tried one out just to get the feel of it and then Hunter took every measurement he needed to do one that fits him perfectly. Usually, it will take a few weeks to get it done but since Carlos has money and Hunter has good contacts it should be ready shortly. I can't wait to watch him walk again but for now, he still using his crutches.

"I know, I know." I rest my head against his chest. Needing him closer.

I have never been one to show affection through physical contact. Especially not after Mason but he makes it so easy. It's like my body craves him every second of the day. His presence, his touch simply... comforts me.
