Epilogue: Into The Abyss Part One

This is a Heihua alternative version of the movie Mystery of the Abyss, following their already romantic relationship between them in this story.

In the past few years, Xiao Hua had notice a certain change in his long time lover Hei Xiazi sight. The change was very subtle and gradual, with just a little mistake first that could be consider a silly, even when it came from a man that usually didn't make one, unless it was intentional or because they were in deep danger. Hei Xiazi was without a doubt, one of the very few man he knew that excelled at everything and even when he was called blind man, Xiazi had a very kin sight, specially when it was pitch dark without any kind of light. Or so those who knew him well thought, including himself.

However, the truth was that, as Xiazi aged, which was in itself worrying, considering that he had swallow a fake version of the longevity pill and had not aged in maybe more than half a century, his sight had also started to decline, with him occasionally making a mistake when trying to grab something, specially when in haste. Yes, he had to admit that it had happen like twice in a hole year and a half, but been someone with almost inhuman perception, agility and strength, it was rather odd to make silly mistakes like miscalculating the distance and place of a car key in a table or a glass of wine.

Of course, Xiazi had laughed at his mistakes as finally getting old, but Xiao Hua knew that the pill that Xiazi had swallow a long time ago, when he was young an impulsive was a defective product, even when it had worked wonders for so long. At one point, the pill was going to betray the user with some kind of side effects, that Xiazi had admitted to him that he had no idea of what it may be. Which was why Xiao Hua was worry sick of what may come their way, even if Xiazi had told him not to worry, that he was still the same and that it was only a natural process of aging, after the effects of the pill had finally run out.

At first, he had accepted that explanation, already aware that his lover was going to have a backlash at some point, but he was truly worry, when the occasional mistakes became less occasional, even when they were in the darkness of their bedroom, in where Xaizi was at his best element. It was then that Xiazi had finally told Xiao Hua that his sight was in fact related to his longevity and when he lose his sight completely, he was going to die shortly after, reaching the true end of the changes that the fake pill had done to his body to keep it young for longer that he should if a normal man.

That confession trigger the panic button inside Xiao Hua, thinking that he was going to end like Wu Xie when he got his lung cancer before he was fully heal and their relationship strained by his newly found obsession of trying to restore Xiazi's sight no matter the cost. The following months after the confession, were the hardest in Xiao Hua's life second only to his patriarch position in his family when he was just a kid, but even if things where going down to hell, Hei Xiazi was too in love of his desperate lover to actually stay away from him for longer that he though was necessary for them to be apart after a heated fight.

However, it was a few days later that Hei Xiazi had found out that his stubborn lover had go out into an expedition in the middle of nowhere in a native jungle, to search for a parasite that could restore his vision and had gone missing. That alone had trigger red flags all over his mind, since Xiazi knew Xiao Hua was more than capable to make any expedition or tomb raid he ever did a success and only if things were desperately wrong he would go missing or out of contact. Thus it was the reason why he had travel to that very same jungle to find his lover and bring him back home safe and sound.

He hired a few young native men from the village closer to the place Xiao Hua's team had go missing and dashed into the jungle's dangers without caring about the local legend of the Naga monster that supposedly live somewhere deep into the jungle. He had seen his fair share of monsters in his lifetime and none of them real or otherwise will ever stop him from finding his missing Xiao Hua. Nonetheless, when he finally found him, deep in a underground cave, things were not looking good for his beloved and just one glance at his appearance was enough to realize how badly things had gone for all of them.
