-At Dawnmore Castle-

"What's their report?" King Allen asked.

"Let's see," Van carefully read the letter. "It seems that Grayhaven was completely abandoned."

"What?!" Allen couldn't contain his surprise. "Was it the Champion?"

"They are not certain about that. Their report says that vampires were the cause of it. They found a catacomb under the town that appeared to be used by them. They originally thought that the Champion used it until they reviewed some of the documents."

"I see."

Allen's worried about how things are turning out. It's clear that the Champion of Darkness wasn't in Grayhaven, so he has to assume that the monster is in the city.

This sent shivers down his spine. If the Champion's here, then it's only a matter of time before his kingdom was reduced to ashes.

That's why he's alerting a few of his most trusted guards. He also tried to keep the information about the Champion possibly being in the city a secret, so that he can avoid a panic.

But that didn't stop Allen's anxiety. He feared that the Champion was going to destroy his kingdom any minute.

Van noticed the King's worry but said nothing. What could he say anyway?

Even with Van and the others, it's not like they'll be able to deal with the Champion. The Champion's supposedly a god, so how were they going to face something like that?

This, however, didn't stop them from trying.

After all, it's not just the Human Continent that's endangered. It's the whole world.

Once the Champion deals with the Human Continent, it won't just disappear, it'll move on to destroy more. To prevent that, Van and the others plan to trap the Champion, so they can swiftly kill it.

That's why they have Norten building a trap to restrain the Champion. It was delicate work, so Norten needs peace and quiet while working on it.

He has all of the supplies he needed to build his trap, and attendants to assist him. While he was working on that, Reiko scoured the city to search for the Champion.

It's clear that the Champion will hide his appearance, otherwise, there would have been panic about a black-haired monster roaming the city. Due to this, she's searching them with whatever clues she has about them.

One of them being the Champions partner. After hearing further reports, it appears that the Champion wasn't alone.

Its partner seems to be a blue-haired girl about twelve years old. Despite looking so young, she was able to heal a wound that would be fatal and negates all healing magic.

Not only that, but it seems the Champion has a pet as well. It was a Shadow Wolf.

Shadow Wolves were Rank S to SS monsters. The fact that the Champion has one as a pet proves just how dangerous it was.

Knowing this, it's clear that not only is the Champion dangerous, but so is its companions.

The only question that Allen thought about was why the Champion saved that young adventurer. It didn't really make any sense.

What was the Champion's goal? Why did it save that adventurer?

The King couldn't help but ponder over the thought, but there wasn't any time to think about it. He can't hesitate in front of the threat.

He needs to make sure that the Champion doesn't harm his city. That's his top priority.

Anyway, after hearing the report further, King Allen got a better understanding of the situation. But, there was something else that bothered him.

"Did I hear that right?" Allen asked.

"Unfortunately so, King Allen. It seems that the Champion has three partners now. The new member was the Prince of Vampires."

King Allen's face grew pale.

The Prince of Vampires? Why in the world would the Prince and Champion of Darkness work together?

It's true that the races loathed the vampires just as much as the Children or Champion of Zerris, but even so, it's impossible for them to work together.

Then again, desperate times call for desperate measures.

The two foes likely formed an alliance with one another. They're likely plotting to take over Allen's kingdom right now.

Sweat started to stream down Allen's face. He held his head as he started to develop a headache.

"Is that all?" King Allen asked.

"I believe so."

"Good lord. This is turning into such a mess."

"Indeed."

While King Allen tried to suppress his headache, Van spoke up.

"King Allen, what do you plan to do now?"

"I'm . . . Not sure. With this new information, it's hard for me to make any decision without knowing more."

All that was told in the letter was that the vampires were taking over towns near the City. It said nothing about the vampires joining the Champion, so they're just assuming that they are.

The problem is that they can't go on just that fact. They need solid evidence before they move further.

If the vampires are planning to take over Allen's kingdom, then he'll have to take action. But, he doesn't want to start a war with the vampires.

They may be hiding in the shadows now, but from what he heard from the report, they're capable of taking him down if needed. That's why Allen needs to play this right.

For now, he'll have Reiko continue scouring the area for the Champion and his allies. Once he's got a pin on their location, he'll plan a way to trap the Champion and figure out what their plan is.

Until then, he could only sit on his chair and wait for something to happen.

"How's Reiko doing on her search?" Allen asked.

"She hasn't found anything, as of yet. I'm not sure we're not going to even find the Champion if it hasn't been found this long."

"Dammit . . ."

"I'll be taking my leave, now. I'll see if I can have any luck finding the Champion."

"Alright. Good luck," Allen said goodbye to Van as he left the room.

King Allen sat in his chair and stared at the window.

"Where the hell is that monster?" He muttered to himself.
