♡ Part 50: how close they are ♡

sakura: this isn't right sasuk--

sasuke: so what do you want me to do? should i let these people hate on karin or should i stop it? you don't get it sakura, this has nothing to do with what happened between me and you. this is about you guys always bashing kari--

sakura turned herself around and began walking away. she took her jacket and naruto quickly followed behind her. sasuke watched her leave as the sounds around him started disappearing. this felt all too familiar and he didn't like it at all. 

tenten: ...

she glared at sasuke and then went to sakura alongside with ino. shikamaru walked up to sasuke and looked at him confused

shikamaru: what's wrong

sasuke didn't hear him as his eyes were fixed onto the door. 

TO SAKURA

she walked outside and naruto silently followed behind her. the silence broke once she coughed

naruto: i don't think he meant to hurt you

sakura stopped on her tracks and turned around but her face bumped into his chest. she didn't realize how close they were. she looked up and naruto gently smiled at her. he wanted to reinsure her that he was there for her

sakura: it's not even about me, it's just...

she looked back down but then back up at him

sakura: he failed to see how hurt tenten was, and yet, he defended the very reason of her pain

naruto slowly nodded his head as silence filled the air between them again although his presence did sooth her in a way.

naruto: i'll walk you home y'know

sakura shook her head and pointed behind him. he turned around and saw sasuke standing there. he walked towards them but his gaze was still down

sasuke: let's talk... sakura

sakura: i jus---

neji: sakura..

he walked outside and came to them. they all looked at him a bit confused

neji: i just wanted to say... thank you

naruto: neji never says thank you y'know

naruto chuckled in attempt to lighten the mood although that only made him receive an annoyed look from sasuke

sakura: for what

neji: for making me realize what i lost. 

sakura looked up at him and noticed his regret filled eyes. he looked back down and went inside to look for tenten. he wanted to make things right with her but before he could do that, he had to thank sakura for what she said

sasuke stood there in silence after neji left. what was he missing that everyone else seem to catch?

sakura: i'm heading home

naruto: should i walk you home?

sakura: it's okay, i'll walk alone

she gave him a quick hug and turned around as started walking away from them.

naruto: merry christmas to you too....

he turned around and looked at sasuke who just silently stared at the floor

naruto: you were right y'know. it's not about the two of you, it's about tenten and neji. sakuras point wasn't about you defending karin, it was about you defending the wrong thing. tenten may not be your friend, but she is sakuras friend. maybe even a little bit of kindness wouldn't kill y'know
