♡ Part 96: luckiest girl ♡

shikamaru: she's not coming

a sense of bitterness was detected from the nara, although no one spoke about it. all eyes traveled over his slight frown before they averted to their coach who eagerly stood at the front of his class

kakashi: this meeting will be short, so i'll get right onto it. 

the masked man began to explain more details about the tournament and the boys were very excited, despite shikamaru who sat at a desk with a large frown. sasuke glanced over to the side and noticed his best friend's downfall in attitude

kakashi: i think i've covered everything, oh wait, there's another piece of information i have for all of you

kakashi smiled under his mask

kakashi: this tournament is a big one and we're in need of a captain for the team, i've decided to appoint sasuke as our captain for the tournament and afterwards we'll decide if he was a good person to be our captain for when we take over the national team

the room fell silent and sasuke snapped his head towards his coach. he wasn't necessarily surprised due to the conversation he had with kakashi a while back---- but nevertheless he didn't expect his journey to start so soon, so suddenly

kakashi: sasuke, are you willing to take the role? it'd be a shame if you didn't.

his voice was playful, practically teasingly poking sasuke with his last comment and the raven cringed at the thought

sasuke: hmph, whatever

naruto grinned to his best friend's promotion

'teme really deserves it, but i'm still better than him 'ttebayo!'

the blonde slapped his best friend's back, and in return received an even harder slap right back. he screeched in pain but still smiled knowing that their friendship was returning to it's usual, playful manner. 

sasuke just slightly smiled

kiba: i could've slapped harder, man.

suigetsu: save that for the damn bedroom kiba, no one cares. 

the dog lover scoffed

kiba: at least i can save it for the bedroom. unlike me, you'll never get laid 'you raw egg'

the boys all chuckled from the remark kiba made referencing to suigetsu's awkward yet memorable poem. the fish-boy rolled his eyes. 

kakashi: anyways, that's all. enjoy your lunches and make sure you have enough energy for the rest of the day. dismissed. 

with that, the players left their sensei's room and headed on to their lockers where they'd retrieve their lunches and soon head to the cafeteria. naruto ran up behind shikamaru and wrapped a tight arm around his neck

naruto: you seem down y'know

shikamaru: i am down because you're troublesome weight is pushing me down. 

his retort was bitter and naruto's smile faded

naruto: what happened?

sasuke walked up to his best friends and shot a curious glance to the nara. shikamaru held a sandwich in his hand.

shikamaru: i got into a bothersome argument with sakura

sasuke/naruto: what?

shikamaru sighed. 

shikamaru: i yelled at her. 

the regret was nonexistent in the nara simply because it had to be done
