♡ Part 69: Play date ♡

TO NARUTO

AFTER SCHOOL

he let out an exasperated sigh. he leaned against the wall of the back of his school with his crutches in hand. he was currently waiting for sakura so that they could go to his doctors appointment. 

as he waited, he couldn't help but feel the slightest bit of nervousness take over his limbs. this was going to be his first time being alone with sakura officially since their kiss--- and no matter how much he tried to forget it, he just couldn't. the guilt, the love, the despair was all rolled up into a cover that leeched onto his heart and soul. 

sakura: naruto!

she quickly walked out of the school and was met by naruto's troubled gaze. he quickly shook his head and gave her a wide grin

naruto: sure took you long, sakura-chan

they chuckled and sakura motioned for him to join her so that they could take their leave

sakura: sorry, ino was holding me up

that was all she could say as they got onto the sidewalk and made their way to the doctors. as they walked, they talked and laughed like usual. nothing seemed out of the ordinary if anyone they knew looked at them. although inside both their hearts, there was something that was indescribable

sakura: so then--

sasuke: sakura..

the pinkette stopped on her tracks and turned around to see her lover walk up to them. 

naruto: hey teme!

sasuke stared at his best friend with an emotionless gaze which made both sakura and naruto narrow their brows

sakura: what is it?

sasuke: ......

he was surprised that she didn't understand why he was here. she stared at him with a confused expression and eyed naruto for assistance, but he was just as confused as her. 

sasuke: ...nevermind

sakura: wait!

their eyes met and at that very moment, her eyes widened

sakura: i-i forgot! sorry, you can tell me now if you'd like

naruto: forgot what

sakura looked down

sakura: his answer from his resume

naruto's eyes widened while sasuke looked to the side. this was the first time this had ever happened and things were rather awkward than not. 

sasuke: where are you going?

sakura: we're going to his doctors appointment

sasuke felt an uneasy feeling get the better of himself. with that, he turned himself around and began to walk himself home

sakura: ...

she didn't know if she should just wait until she got home to call him, or if she should have asked him to talk to her now. she would have done the latter, although it was already too late the moment he walked so fast that he was now out of sight. the pinkette sighed

naruto: ...it's okay sakura

he pat her back but she shrugged it off

sakura: let's just go

with that, the duo made their way to the doctors although a great amount of guilt raised in sakura as she thought of the way sasuke stared at her

TO SASUKE

he got home and plopped onto the couch right away. he stared up at the ceiling and thought of sakura even though he didn't want to. he was trying to change, he was trying to be better when it came to understanding people--- although why is it that the one time he needed sakura to understand him and his choice of what he wrote on his resume, she wasn't even there waiting for him. instead, she was with naruto.

this made a distasteful feeling reach his mouth. he didn't know what it was, but ever since the ski trip, things were different. things were just... more troublesome. sakura and the rest were the same when it came to personality, although when it came to something else that sasuke just couldn't put his finger on, things were different in that sense. 

itachi: sasuke, you're back

sasuke was silent, like usual

izumi: oh sasuke-san, nice seeing you again

sasuke eyed the brunette for a second before staring back up at the ceiling

sasuke: hmph

to anyone else, that would've seemed normal. although itachi could see something was wrong. heck, sasuke was his brother, of course he would notice. he faced his girlfriend and held her hand

itachi: i'll call you

izumi nodded and gave him a quick peck on his cheek before getting herself ready to leave. sasuke continued to silently stare at the ceiling as itachi walked his girlfriend out. once she officially left, itachi cocked his head towards his younger brother

itachi: now tell me sasuke, what's been troubling you

itachi dragged his feet towards the couch across from sasuke and waited for his brother to fess up. things were hard due to the fact that their parents were deceased, however itachi always tried his best to be a good role model for his younger brother. 

sasuke: i gave my resume in today

itachi nodded

sasuke: i gave it to kakashi-sensei, sakura still doesn't know what i wrote

itachi narrowed his eyes

sasuke: when i told her that i'd tell her what i wrote after school, she forgot and went off with the dobe

bitterness spread across sasuke's weary body

sasuke: hmph

itachi sighed knowing that this was most likely killing sasuke inside. little does sasuke know that during their visit to the shrine for new years and he exclaimed his feelings to their aunt rin, she ended up telling itachi about it a few days later so that he could keep a close eye on sasuke.

itachi: sasuke, i get it, it must be hard. i know this decision was hard to make

sasuke: -mumble- she knew that too

itachi: but don't worry too much. i understand it was odd and inconsiderate for her to do that, but just know that she might have her own reasons for that

itachi gave a closed-eye smile to his younger brother

itachi: she might just be having a small play date with naruto before being able to finally hear the news she had been longing to hear

his words were like a poem that was unfinished. he might have a point and sasuke had to take that into consideration. although what made him somewhat irritated was that even so, she should've prioritized him over naruto. this was a decision that was hard for sasuke, and she knew that--- yet she still continued on her way with naruto.

sasuke: what am i supposed to do?

itachi: let her end the play date, and she'll come around on her own. she must've realized it by now that what she did was wrong

even if this was a play date, this wasn't fun for sasuke whatsoever.
