I sat curled up against the end of Kiana's couch, her black cat, Jackie, clutched protectively in my arms. Yeontan and Nari padded about her studio quietly, sniffing each corner of the room until they were satisfied with whatever they were trying to find. Kiana bounced out of the kitchen, two cups of Starbucks clasped in her hand.

"I can't believe you're staying here for three days," she exclaimed, handing me my drink. I stared down at the Coconut Milk Mocha Macchiato nervously, tilting the cup from side to side as I examined its light-brown contents.

"Why'd you get me this?" I asked again, shaking the drink before taking a sip. It didn't taste half bad, but for five dollars, I didn't think it was worth it.

Kiana grinned down at me, her freckles bunching up beneath her eyes as she took a long sip of her Frappucino. "Because," she chirped, and I already knew she was growing excited from her coffee high. "It's delicious, and it's cheap, and you don't normally eat good food."

"I eat healthily," I grumbled, smacking my lips at the bitter taste of coconut milk on the roof of my mouth.

"My point exactly. You're at my house now Jang; we either cook whole meals or feast entirely on junk food. No in-between."

"I honestly don't think there is an in-between, but alright."

Jackie mewled loudly in my arms, her claws digging into my chest as she fought to push herself out of my embrace. Immediately, I released her, the small black she-cat jumping onto the glass coffee table, then onto the floor. She glanced over at Yeontan, the small Pomeranian busy trying to squeeze himself under Kiana's chair to our right.

"Is Yeontan...okay?" Kiana tittered, leaning forward to snap her fingers. Yeontan struggled for a moment before pushing himself from beneath the chair, his curly tail wagging happily as he trotted over to her.

"I think? But, with Taehyung as his owner, I'm not surprised he acts a little...special."

We laughed together youthfully, settling back against the throw pillows on the couch and staring up at the TV. Unconsciously, I called out to Nari, longing to feel the Shepherd's warm, fluffy fur against me. Nari trotted up to the couch, waving her tail inconsistently as I patted a space on the couch near my feet. She hopped up beside me, a quiet harrumph forcing its way out of her as she plopped down, her head resting comfortably against my feet. "Good pup," I mumbled with a smile, reaching forward to pat Nari's muzzle.

"What're we gonna do today?" Kiana questioned, gazing across at me. I shrugged lazily, taking another sip from my drink before tilting my head back against the arm of the couch. I stared up at the ceiling of Kiana's condo, the large windows behind me casting an angelic light across the living room and kitchen floor. My eyes fluttered shut languidly as I took a deep breath, forcing myself back into a sitting position.

     "I don't know."

"What? C'mon, you always came up with something when we were kids...even if it was lame as fuck."

"Kiana, I haven't been out with friends in a long time."

"Yeah, 'cause Yura always forced you to stay in. 'I don't want you to go, princess.' 'Don't you wanna fool around?' 'You don't wanna stay with your fiancé?' Blah, blah, blah. He's gone now, Yumin." Kiana pushed herself to her knees, waddling over to me and Nari before plopping back down on her bottom. "What do you wanna do?"
