Baam Pov

It was hard to explain the feeling into words. I knew that Cecelia and I had promised to stay by each other's side, but she always felt... distant. Even now, with me holding her hand and lying on her lap, she feels distant. I want to get closer to her. I want to get to know more about her. I thought, holding her cool hand with my own. I might be being greedy and selfish, but... is it possible for me to become even more important in her life? Over time, Cecelia's become someone so important in my life that I can't see my life without her. I may be climbing the Tower to find and bring Lahel back, but Cecelia's the one that I want to keep by my side no matter what happens.

I sat up and looked straight into Cecelia's blood-red eyes. She had a light blush on her pale cheeks, confusion radiating off of her in waves.

"E-eh?" She murmured.

"I want to have your mark, too."

Her face turned serious.

"Baam, I'll pretend that I didn't hear that-"

"Cece. Please."

Cece was my nickname for her back when we stayed at the cave. I rarely used it, but she knew that I meant what I was saying if I used the nickname.

"Having my Demon mark means that you'll never be able to get away from me, Baam. I'll always know where you are, what you're feeling-"

"Mm. I'm okay with that. I don't want to get away from you." I clarified.

"I won't get rid of it even if you beg me, understand?"

I nodded, causing Cecelia to let out a sigh. Androssi, who had been watching us silently, cut in just as Cecelia drew closer to me.

"Wait a minute!! Isn't that like stalking?! To know where he is, and to feel what he's feeling... that's gross!!" She protested.

"Demon marks are originally meant to keep tabs on the Demon's contractor- or in other words, their prey. Of course it's stalker-ish. I don't work for free, you know. I can't have my meal run away from me after I've worked to fulfil their desires." Cecelia explained.

"You're going to eat Baam's soul?!"

"No!! Calm down, Androssi. Green is not your colour."

".....Whatever."

"Now, Baam, this might hurt- but I'll make it quick."

Koon Pov

FLASHBACK

"I know that you'll do well, Koon!! No matter the outcome, I'll see you on the other side, with Baam in tow!!" Cecilia cheered, just as I left the room with Team A.

FLASHBACK END

Thinking back, I couldn't help but chuckle at her response. Despite her terrifying power and (sometimes) her terrifying personality, she was supportive and relatively cheerful. I don't know if all Demons are like her, but I can bet that she's quite the oddball. I thought, just as Quant's voice called out to me from behind.

"I found your "IT"- huh?"

"Oh? Hello. Good job making it this far." I commented, turning to meet Quant's annoyed gaze.

"Hey, where's your "IT"?" He asked.

"Ah, Anaak's not here," I replied.

"So she hasn't arrived yet? She should've reached the bridge by now. Where did you hide her?" Quant questioned once again.

"It's true that she was just here, but she jumped down to the exit below," I answered leisurely.

"Pfft-- HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's ridiculous!! From this height?"

"She's a Princess of Jahad." I started.

Well, half Princess, but he probably doesn't know that. Now to lay on some half-lies real thick...

"Apparently, she trained in physical enhancement after she was injured during the Fishermen test. She's probably running through the darkness right now. Are even Rankers scared to dive from this height?" I continued, trying to keep Quant's mind off of Anaak, who was hiding in the darkness, floating on top of my copied Lighthouse.

"Isn't your Shinsu limited during this test? Maybe you'll run out soon." I finished, just as Quant commented with a small smirk.

"You copied your Lighthouse, didn't you?" He said.

Damn it!! How did he know?! He shouldn't have been able to tell!!

"Huh? What are you talking about?" I said, lying through my teeth.

"Even if you turn off its glow, I can tell from the Shinsu aura. You're hiding your "IT" using a copied Lighthouse... under the bridge."

"There you go again. I have no idea what you're talking about," I replied, laughing nervously.

"In that case, here's a question for you. If you jump off with me and end up as flat as a pancake, what will happen to your "IT" on top of your Lighthouse?" He questioned, grabbing my wrist.

In an instant, Quant had jumped off of the bridge, dragging me along with him. And even though this was something that I had expected in one of my scenarios, nothing but a single word came out of my mouth.

"CECELIA!!"
