It started with an Accident...

Chapter 28

Mahi's POV

Many girls in my class were also having a crush on Bhai and all his friends as they all were good-looking. Some of the girls became my friends as they wanted to be friends with Bhai, Ron, and others.

Some girls hated me for the same reason, all seven of them were friendly with me and the girls were jealous of me.

Many boys in my class and some seniors tried to show interest in me, but I denied all the proposals of friendship as I just loved him.

Some even tried to follow me or were more adamant and wanted to pursue me, but somehow, they all backed out very easily, maybe they saw my love for him or were scared of my overprotective brothers.

If everyone could see that I loved him, why could not he see it?? I wanted to tell him my feelings, he needed to know. But how??

I baked a small cake for him and went to his home to give it to him. But saw his neighbor flirting with him. He smiled at me as soon as he felt my presence.

" Hey, Mahi!! How are you ?"

" I am good, I made a cake specially for you. I learned to bake a cake, so decided to make one for you as you like cakes a lot. "

" Oh, Mahi, that's so sweet of you..." He smiled and was saying something but the girl interrupted him.

" Hey, Ron, she baked a cake for you?  But why? " She asked him as if she had some right over him. He thought for a few seconds and smiled again.

" Thanks, princess...but you didn't have to do it. " His smile was lost.

" Why not? If I am alive and well enough to make a cake for you, it is because you saved my life. I owe my life to you. Thanks for everything. "  I said but was not comfortable that he was with another girl.

" That was my duty... Please don't think too much about it, even if it was someone else, I would have done the same, nothing special. " He said.

" I know, I am not special for you, but you have been my superhero, and will always be. " I said looking at him.

" Oh, Mahi. "  He looked embarrassed.

" Please try it and let me know how is it. " I said as I was excited to know, though I didn't want him to cut the cake in the presence of that girl, it didn't look as if she was going anywhere. "

" I am sorry but I can't eat this."

" Why? I swear, I know how to make it, mom has taught me. I swear, nothing will happen to you. It is safe to eat this. "

" I am not eating anything sweet."

" Why?"

"  Just like that... I am avoiding sugar. Sorry, can't try it. "

" At least, try a bite of it. " I said.

" Sorry, Mahi! Why don't you have it? "

"  But I made it for you. "

" Do you mind if I eat it? " His neighbor asked. I wanted to yell at her and tell her to leave us alone, but didn't.

" Ron? May I taste it? "

" You may, if Mahi doesn't mind it. "

" I got the cake for you, now it is yours, do whatever you want to do, eat, give whoever wants it, or throw it. " I turned on my heel to come out of their home.

Ron called my name but I didn't stop and as soon as I came out, I ran to my car, the driver opened the door, I hopped in and asked him to drive as I didn't want to cry in front of them.

I wish he had tasted at least a bite of it. Though I felt bad, I was so crazy about him that my enthusiasm was not dampened by it.

After a few days, I found him alone in the canteen, it felt like a good opportunity and I went to him with my lunch box. He smiled at me and asked me, how was I and if I was looking for my bhai. I shook my head and told him that my friend had not come so I have to eat alone.

" Oh, why don't you join, Roohi or Ruhan? "  He said.

" Can't I eat food with you? Please! "  I asked with an increased heartbeat.

" Mahi, why are you asking like that? Of course, you can have food with us. " He says and I felt very good. Sitting beside him, I  offered him Thepla from my box, I knew it was his favorite but I was surprised when he shook his head.

But Why?

" Please, have some, it is one of your favorites, isn't it?? "  I asked.

" No, it is Ron's favorite. " He said with a smile and I realized that he was Raj.

Oh, that's why he was sitting alone. If he was Ron, some or the other stupid girl, would have been with her.

But I didn't want Raj to feel that I asked him if I could eat lunch with him because I thought he was Ron.

" Oh, I thought you also like it.  W.where is he, I can share it with him. "  I asked as I could not control my urge to go and meet him. I had his favorite dish in my tiffin, and it could be a good excuse to meet him.

" Er... Umm, I don't know, as it is he has so many gir... Friends to meet. But Manik, Sujal, and Shlok would join me soon. Rest are usually busy at lunchtime. " He said.

" Since you don't like Thepla but he likes it, I will go, find him and share with him. Bye."  I said.

" Mahi, wait..." Raj said but I had to find my hero, so I ran off.

I finally found him but I was shocked to find him in an empty room with a girl. He was busy in kissing her. I was so shocked that my tiffin box fell out of my hand and he broke the kiss and looked at me with shock and cursed.

" Mahi?? What are you doing here? "  He asked. But I could not say anything. I shook my head and ran away from there and rushed into the girls' washroom and cried with my face hidden in my hands.

He kissed her?? Was she his girlfriend?

When I finally came out and went to my classroom, I saw him standing there with my tiffin box in his hand.

" Mahi... " He was saying but I didn't want to stay there as I could have cried then and there. So I rushed in without taking my tiffin.

" Mahi?? " He called again, but I didn't hear.  He gave my tiffin to Ruhan who was my classmate and went away.

Ruhan came to give me the tiffin and asked me how his brother found my tiffin. I said that I was not hungry so went to give my tiffin to Manik bhai in the canteen, it seemed he gave the tiffin to Ron as he likes thepla. So he came. 

He looked at me and the tiffin and asked me further, " Then why didn't he eat them? "

" How do I know, go and ask him, " I said in a fit of anger.

" Shall I eat, I like them too. "

" Okay! " I said as I was not hungry anymore.
