Mahi's POVMehendi Ceremony:I locked my door as soon as he went out and I rushed to take a bath. Though he was not in my room or bathroom now, I could not forget what he was doing here just a few minutes back. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that my face was a bsolutely red. Somehow, I was flushed, but I took a quick shower and got ready wearing a light green pista-colored lehenga I was brushing my hair when I heard a knock. If this is Ron, knocking on the door, I am not going to talk to him. I opened the door and was relieved to see that it was my mom. " Are you ready for the Mehandi, beta? She asked the moment she entered the room. And then smiled to see that I was ready. " Mehendi is an indispensable part of an Indian wedding ceremony." She hugged me saying it and took me outside where the ceremony was to be held. The Mehandi artists were waiting, under a canopy adorned with marigolds and jasmine, they made me sit down there, but first of all, Priya Aunty applied a Swastik in my hand and then my hands and feet adorned with mesmerizing henna designs. The air was filled with the lively beats of Punjabi dhol and the rhythmic tunes of Gujarati folk music. The mingling fragrances of mehendi and incense create an enchanting ambiance. The henna designs were beautiful, intricate, and elaborate. The artists asked the name of my groom and Roohi told them his name, teasing me, I blushed at that. Priya Aunty asked Myra to get Mehandi on her hands as we were to have our reception together. The artists asked the name of her groom and before she could tell them the name of her husband, Raj came near her and placed an arm around her and told his name to them. She was very excited and looked very radiant. But Mom and Priya Aunty asked him to go and join the boys. Mom asked Gauravi to come for the Mehandi but she said that she needed to go for the next shift in an hour. So she just got a beautiful flower on her palm. Mihir was looking very happy to see her getting mehandi on her palm while Manik bhai looked sad though he was pretending to look happy. I am sure he was missing Roshni. The artists hid the letters of the names of the grooms amidst the various patterns. It was done so beautifully. Roohi was teasing the three of mercilessly. Myra asked her the name of someone special but she just smiled and said that there is no such person in her life. Mom Priya Aunty and Sia Aunty also started getting Mehandi in their hands. " It is believed the darker the color of the Mehendi is, the more love the bride will receive from her husband." The Mehandi artist said, everyone smiled and kept teasing us. The men came in but Roohi did not allow them to come near us. They kept arguing with her but She was adamant about keeping them apart. Myra and I were enjoying their banter. Myra was blushing with just a look from Raj. It was so good to see her like this. But I didn't dare to look at Ron as I knew that he must be looking at me in the same way Raj was looking at Myra. But I was tempted to steal a glance at Ron as I could not control the urge to see him. It felt as if his eyes and my eyes were like two opposite sides of the magnet. He was making it impossible not to look at him. Ron kept ogling at me as if I was some kind of a celebrity. I was getting very conscious under his gaze. I have been thinking about what happened in the bathroom. Since then he has not escaped my mind. My face turned red thinking how he touched and kissed me and that brought a red tint on my face. " Someone is blushing too much. You look so beautiful. I am so happy for you. " Myra said. " And I am happy for you. " I said and she nodded. My hair was falling on my face as I had not tied it as it was still wet at that time. But now it was irritating me. Ron got up and came to me but Roohi told him to go back. " But I need to help her, her hair is falling on her face. " " I will help her, you go and sit there. " Roohi said. Mom and Aunty were laughing. Roohi helped me in tying my hair. He got a drink and snacks for me as well but Roohi took them from him and sent him back. He tried every trick to come near me but could not. Finally, the ceremony was over. The vibrant beats of Bhangra fill the air as Ron and I embark on our joyous Punjabi and Gujarati wedding journey. ****Ron's POV Wedding day... In the evening, everyone got ready. I was dressed up in the wedding sherwani and churidar. A small puja was then performed, The turban and the Sehra were sanctified by the priest during this puja. Then that turban and the Sehra were tied around my head by my dad with the help of the priest. My dad and Chachu, Raj, and Ruhan also wore pagdi on their heads. The Baraat, accompanied by dhol beats, arrives at the venue, with me riding a beautifully decorated white horse. The milni ceremony was performed by the exchange of garlands between the families, symbolizing the union of two souls.Megha Aunty welcomed me and the Barat after doing their Gujarati rituals. I wanted to have a look at a certain someone, but I could not see her. I wanted to see how she would look as my bride. My brothers, friends, and cousins started teasing me as they could see that my eyes were searching for someone. I was still waiting for my love to come. After about 15 minutes, the music changed, and everyone turned to see towards the entry door as it was evident that my bride was going to enter.I was excited to see her but could not see her as the photographers were standing in front of her to capture her beauty through their lens. Finally, they moved aside and there she was, the love of my life, my Mahi. She was looking like some goddess in that wedding attire. She started walking towards me slowly, I was mesmerized to see her, she looked very beautiful in that wedding attire. I was so happy to see her dressed as a bride, she looked so radiant and was blushing. Her mehndi-clad hands were covered with lots and lots of bangles. Oh god !! She was looking so good. In fact, she was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen and she was mine. Every slow step she was taking toward me was making my heart flutter. Everyone else faded and all I could see was her coming towards me very slowly and shyly. Then she looked at me for a fraction of a minute and my heart was going to launch itself out of my chest. She came to stand in front of me and I helped her to climb up on the stage as she was wearing that heavy yet elegant lehenga. She came and stood by me. Shaurya, Shlok, and Viren were saying something but I could not hear a word. I was sure they were teasing me about my reaction to seeing my bride, but I didn't care and I was just so much in love and was extremely happy. I couldn't take my eyes off her and then I heard everyone laughing around me. They all were looking at me and teasing me. I smiled at Raj and Myra. Roohi got the garlands on the platters for us first and we picked them up. Mahi was looking so beautiful that I kept looking at her and forgot to react. " Hey, are you alive...? " Raj whispered in my ear, and all of them laughed. Mahi blushed beautifully and I smiled.Raj came near me and whispered, " No, mean if you are not feeling like getting married, say no to this wedding. And if you want to do it but not feeling okay, I can do the rest of the rituals pretending to you. " Raj said. I was shocked to hear what he said. " What?? Are you out of your mind? " I whispered and yelled. " Relax!! Don't worry everyone will think that you got married to her. " He said again. " Have you gone mad, Raj? What are you saying?? It is unethical. " " Oh, now it is unethical?? Was it ethical when you suggested the same to me? Did you like the taste of your own medicine?? This is called, Tit for tat, brother. " He said and I glared at him but he grinned. I will talk to him about it later.Mahi was standing in front of me looking at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing in the whole world. " Mahi, you have to put that over his head. Do it, before he goes crazy. " Myra said. " I am waiting, love. I have waited for you for years, please exchange garlands with me or I will go mad. " I said and she looked at me and blushed. She extended her hands and very shyly put the garland over my head. I released the breath, I seemed to be holding and smiled. Then I did the same. Everyone clapped and showered flowers over us. After exchanging the garlands, we all proceeded to the wedding mandap.
